Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Trimble and their sons, Tony, Eddie, and Danny, were Tues
day visitors to Six Flags Over Georgia. The Trimbles, who live on Route 1, Jackson,
enjoyed a full day of fun at the family en tertainment center. Six Flags is located
west of Atlanta on 1-20. The park is open daily from 10 a. m. to 10 p. m. through
Labor Day.

Lunceford’s brother, W. H.
Lunceford, 62, on June 19 in
Collinsville, Illinois.
Mr. Lunceford was born in
Greene County, Georgia and had
lived in Collinsville 15 years. Fu
neral services and burial were
held for Mr. Lunceford on June
23 in Collinsville.
Survivors include three sons;
two brothers, B. Y. Lunceford,
Emory Lunsford, Chattanooga,
Tenn.; a sister, Mrs. Vera Sims,
Detroit, Michigan; two half
brothers, both of Atlanta.

The Macon Coliseum in Macon
is featuring July as Bonus Month
for Ice Skating at the Coliseum.
The huge ice rink which measures
85 feet by 200 feet will be of
fering free skating sessions.
Monday is Ladies’ Day—free
admission for all ladies. Tuesday
is Dad’s Day, free admission for
all men. Wednesday is Children’s
Day, free admission for all chil
dren accompanied by an adult.
Thursday is Family Day, one
adult charge for admission for
the entire family. Friday offers
the regular ice skating schedule.
The time each day for skating
is 3:30 p. m. to 5:30 p. m., 6:00
p. m. to 8:00 p. m. and 8:30 p. m.
to 10:30 p. m. The usual charge
for ice skating is SI.OO for adults
and 50c for children 16 and un
der. There will be a charge for
rental of skates of 35c.
Henderson Youth
Center To Have
Swimming Class
The Henderson Youth Center
will offer swimming classes this
summer. The classes will be from
9:00 a. m. to 10:00 a. m. each
morning at Indian Springs Beach,
beginning July 21 through Aug
ust 2.
A boy or girl must be at legst
seven years of age. There will be
no maximum age limit. Registra
tion for these classes will be July
Ist, 2nd, and 3rd from 9:00 a. m.
to 12:00 noon at the Henderson
Youth Center. A registration fee
of SI.OO per pupil will be charged
to help with the expense of the'
classes.
A bus will leave the center
each morning at 8:30 a. m. and
return about 10:30 a. m. Assist
ant instructors are needed to
help with the number of boys
and girls who are expected to
take the class this year. If you
can help for one hour each morn
ing please call 775-7229. There
will be no classes on Saturday or
Sunday.
CHAMPION TREES
Georgia has six national tree
champions, according to foresters
with the University of Georgia
Cooperative Extension Service.
They include buckeye, pond cy
press, winged elm, Oglethorpe
oak, post oak and slash pine.
These are recognized as the
largest trees of each species in
the United States.

Junior Golf
Tourney Held
On July 14-15
The Butts County Jaycees will
sponsor a Junior Golf Tourna
ment July 14th and 15th at the
Deer Trail Golf Club in coopera
tion with Lorie Mangham, pro
and club owner.
Participants must be 17 years
of age or under and must not
reach their 18th birthday by Aug
ust Ist, 1969. A registration fee
of $2.00 per entry will be
charged.
Trophies will be awarded for
Ist, 2nd and 3rd places, with
the three winners to represent
Butts County in the State Junior
Golf Tournament in Macon, July
28-31st. The Macon tourney will
be played on Bowden Golf Course
with a practice round scheduled
July 28th.
Mr. Mangham has worked with
several of the young golfers of
the community and stated that he
felt “Butts County will be well
represented in the state tourna
ment.” Mr. Mangham will also
work with the three winners, of
fering professional advice to com
plement their game.

cently elected corresponding sec
retary of Kappa Phi fraternity
for the coming year.
Kappa Phi is one of five fra
ternities which were established
in the spring of 1968. It is gov
erned by the Interfraternal Coun
cil which consists of two repre
sentatives from each sorority and
fraternity.
Faculty advisors to the organi
zation are Robert England, assist
ant professor of biology, and Dr.
William Esslinger, assistant pro
fessor of chemistry.
