Harold Standard, widely known Butts County dairy farmer of the Stark community, was seri ously injured late Sunday after noon on State Route 162 in New ton County when the brand new Chrysler automobile he was driv ing was in collision with a truck that pulled from a side road into the path of Mr. Standard’s car. The impact demolished Mr. Standard’s automobile, leaving him with a broken left arm, a fractured left leg, and numerous bruises and lacerations as well as possible rib fractures. Mr. Standard was rushed to the New ton County Hospital in Covington where he is reported to be resting comfortably and expects to be home by the weekend or early next week if no complications arise. The accident happened on the road that leads from Porterdale to State Route 36 just north of the South River Bridge in Newton County. Mr. Standard was driving in the direction of Butts County when the mishap occurred. His new car had only 318 miles on it at the time of the accident. Dates for Mail Overseas Announced The following dates have been designated for mailing Christmas parcels to members of the Armed Forces overseas: SAM (Space Available Parcel Airlift) by November 22. PAL (parcel air lift) parcels by November 29. Airmail by December 13. The term “Armed Forces Over seas” includes personnel of the Armed Forces, members of their families, and U. S. civilians em ployed overseas who receive their mail through an APO or FPO, New York, San Francisco or Se attle. The name and address of both the sender and addressee should be enclosed in each gift parcel to permit identity in case of damage or loss of the outside address. Mrs. Kimbell, Butts Native, Died Sunday Mrs. Erma Smith Kimbell of 414 South Hill Street, Griffin, died Sunday afternoon after an illness of several weeks. She was the widow of Mr. Charles Brown Kimbell, Sr. Mrs. Kimbell was born in Butts County, the daughter of the late Mr. John H. Smith and Mrs. Maude Hardy Smith. She had made her home in Griffin for 12 years and was Ward Clerk at the Griffin-Spalding County Hos pital before retiring. She was a .member of the First Baptist Church. Funeral services were conduc ted Tuesday morning at 11 o’- clock from the chapel of Pittman- Rawls Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce <M. Morgan offici ating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Kimbell is survived by two sons, Charles Brown Kimbell, Jr. of New York, and James Smith Kimbell of Griffin; two sisters, Mrs. Morris S. Greer of Griffin and Mrs. C. B. Lassiter of Covington; a brother, C. M. Smith of Atlanta.
