December 20th Nuptials
To Unite Judy Spivey,
Phillip Randall Barnes
Mr. and Mrs. Luther T. Spi
vey, of Forest Park, announce
the engagement of their daugh
ter, Judy Charlene Spivey, to
Phillip Randall Barnes, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Otis H. Barnes of
Locust Grove.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Mr. and Mi’S. A. J.
McKibben of Locust Grove and
Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Spivey of
Quitman, Georgia. Miss Spivey is
a 1967 graduate of Forest Park
Senior High School, and is pres
ently a senior at Piedmont Hos
pital School of Nursing.
The future groom is the grand
son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Les
ter McEachern of Atlanta, and
Mrs. C. 0. Barnes and the late
Mr. Barnes of McDonough. Mr.
Barnes is a 1967 graduate of
Jackson High School, a veteran
of Viet Nam, having served there
with the Marine Corps. He is
affiliated with B&C Farm Supply,
Jackson, Ga.
A December 20th wedding is
planned.

Mrs. Van Fletcher and Miss
Amelia Fletcher visited Sunday
afternoon with Mrs. C. M. Comp
ton, who is a patient at Living
Center of Griffin. They also visi
ted Mr. Howard Simons, also a
patient there.
Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Jones Jr.
spent the weekend in Jackson
ville, Florida, going down for the
Georgia-Florida game Saturday
afternoon in the Gator Bowl.
Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Lloyd and
Shelly visited Mr. and Mrs. B. 0.
Williamson Sunday.

JACKSON FHA MEMBERS
ATTEND MARIETTA MEET
Girls left Jackson on Saturday,
November Ist, at 7:30 a. m. to
attend the fall FHA District
Meeting at the Wheeler High
School in Marietta. The theme of
the District Meet was Future
Homemakers Voice of Involve
ment.
Several girls from Jackson
High School presented a skit
stressing “How Youth Can Com
prehend World Problems and
Contribute to Their Solution.”
This skit was written by the local
FHA President, Kay Thompson.
Other Jackson Future Homemak
ers participating in the skit were
Mary Glidewell, Phyllis Barnes,
Nancy Haley, Freda Shellnut,
Mindy Forehand and Felicia
Fears.
District IV FHA secretary,
Donna Waits, was in charge of
roll call at the meeting. Roll call
was presented as a march and
demonstration of all chapters
present. Each chapter was respon
sible for making a huge poster
with the name of the chapter on
one side and an unusual idea for
getting Future Homemakers in
volved on the other side. Debbie
Williams, Jackson Future Home
maker, displayed the sign for
Jackson. The speaker, Mr. Ed
Hiles, emphasized the theme “Fu
ture Homemakers Voice of In
volvement” with an inspiring talk
on The American Spirit.
Other Future Homemakers at
tending the meeting were Daisy
Adams, Leotha Douglas, Melonie
Bell.
Lunch was enjoyed by Jackson
Future Homemakers in Marietta.
FHA’ers arrived back in Jackson
