daughter, Maxine Redman, to
Donald W. Thaxton, son of Mr.
anti Mrs. Wilbur T. Thaxton, De
cember 17th at the Stark United
Methodist Church. The Rev. Fran
cis Ford, pastor, officiated.
The couple is making their
home in Atlanta where the bride
attends Georgia State University
and will continue her education
there.
The groom is employed by the
State Highway, Department of
Engineering.
ABOUT GREENS
Many Christmas greens used
today were once pagan symbols.
Flowers and leafy boughs were
used in Roman rites. The Saxons
used holly, ivy and bay in their
religious observances.

the Rev. Mr. Thaxton officiating.
Mr. Holt is employed at the
Georgia Diagnostic and Classifi
cation Center, Jackson.
Mr. and Mrs. Holt are making
their home in Jackson.

Mrs. Harry Redman at the coun
try home of Miss McMichael.

Miss Redman became the bride
of Donnie Thaxton on Wednesday
night, December 17th, at the
Stark United Methodist Church.

On December 18, the Fidelis
Sunday School Class of the First
Baptist Church was delightfully
entertained at a Christmas party
by Mrs. India Bailey and Mrs.
Lou Moelchert.
On arrival each guest received
a colorful corsage of miniature
pepper which, along with the
decorations throughout the house,
put everyone in the spirit of the
season.
The devotional, appropriate
for Christmas, was led by Mrs.
Van Freeman. Mrs. Moelchert

man, the teacher, who then gave
each member a remembrance. As
favors, Mrs. Moelchert gave each
guest one of the filled socks
which decorated the mantle.
After being seated at tables,
members were served a plate of
Christmas delicacies and tea.
