PLYMEL FAMILY AND
FRIENDS ENJOY OUTING
AT INDIAN SPRINGS
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hayes and
children, Rhonda, Ricky, and
Melanie of Dixie, Georgia, were
overnight guests of the R. T.
Plymel family on Lake Jackson
Saturday night.
Sunday, both families went on
a picnic at Indian Springs for a
large family gathering. Others

The purpose of this event was
to secure the Mclntosh Group
Camp at Indian Springs for the
Joseph and Minnie Lewis Family
Reunion which will be held Aug
ust 14th, 15th, and 16th. This
will be the family’s 17th con
secutive gathering, and will in
clude four generations which
totals 130 members.

learn that he returned home last
week after receiving his discharge
from the United States Air Force.
Mr. Mangham returned from a
tour of duty in Vietnam, serving
there almost two years.

World Day
Of Prayer
The Women’s Society of Chris
tian Service will host the World
Day of Prayer Celebration at
the Jackson United Methodist
Church on Friday, March 6th, at
2:30 o’clock. Rev. Ray Dunahoo,
pastor, will bring the message.
The World Day of Prayer
theme is “Take Courage.” It
takes quiet courage to pray in
these times; it takes open courage
to commit your life and resour
ces; let each help a neighbor and
say “Take Courage.” The nation
wide offering taken on this day
makes a world-wide witness.

ORGANIZE HERE
On Monday night, March 9th,
at 7:30 o’clock, there will be
'a meeting of those women inter
ested in organizing a Ladies
Auxiliary to help promote the
Little League Association.
The meeting will be in the
civic room of the C&S Bank and
all women are especially invited
and urged to attend this import
ant meeting. If there are any
questions they will be answered
by Stanley Maddox at the C&S
Bank.

Gulfport, Miss., with U. S. Naval
Mobile Construction Battalion
133 from the battalion’s third
lour of duty in Vietnam.
While serving in the five north
ern provinces of South Vietnam
the “Seabees” of his battalion
provided engineering and con
struction support to U. S. and
Allied forces.
PFC Samuel C. Allen, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Troy Allen, and
stationed in Phu Loi, Vietnam,
was one of five recently chosen
by his Major to represent his out
fit, Ist Infantry Division, known
as “Big Red One,’’ at Vung Tou.
The group spent three days there.

Baptist Revival
Will Begin On
Sunday, March 15
Members of the First Baptist
Church are actively engaged in
preparing for a revival which
will begin Sunday, March 15th,
and extend through the 22nd.
Every Monday morning for five
weeks preceding the revival a
morning fellowship is being held
at four different homes. At these
fellowships the ladies of the
church discuss needs of church
members, needs of the communi
ty, and pray specifically for these
needs. On Thursday nights the
men are holding visitation in con
nection with the revival and on
Saturday mornings a prayer
breakfast is held by men of the
church.
Rev. Gene Bowman, evangelist,
will be the guest minister for the
revival.

Gene Aust, lubrication special
ist for Standard Oil Company,
was guest speaker at the Tues
day night meeting of the Jack
son Exchange Club at Tomlin’s
Restaurant.
The speaker was accompanied
by David Peterson and showed a
film on “Scenic Georgia.” Mr.
Aust talked on pollution as it
pertains to autos and told of
plans for anew gasoline to be
introduced in Georgia by June of
this year and which will cause
less pollution.

DAR PRESENTS FLAG to GIRL SCOUTS— Mrs. George
L. Swan, right, Regent of the William Mclntosh Chapter,
Daughters of the American Revolution, is pictured above as she
presented an American Flag to local representatives of the
Girl Scout program in Butts County. The presentation was made
at the February meeting of the DAR. The flag was presented

Notice hereby is given there will be held at
the Jackson City Hall in Jackson, Georgia, at
7:00 p. m., Monday evening, March 16, 1970,
by the Jackson-Butts County Planning Commis
sion, a public hearing upon a proposal to change
the zoning classification from “I” (Industrial)
to “C-2” (Neighborhood Business) of that pro
perty fronting on Georgia State Highway No.
16 a distance of 225 feet and extending back
North 11 degrees West a distance of 210 feet
and being bounded North by property of Cash
and Carry, Inc.; East by Carolina Boulevard;
South by Georgia State Highway No. 16, and
West by Southern Boulevard and property of
Cash and Carry, Inc.
Also: Upon the proposal to add additional
uses to those already provided for property
zoned in the “Industrial” zone in the City of
Jackson.
Also: Upon the proposal to amend Section 111
of Article XI of “A Plan for the Development
of the City of Jackson, Georgia” by striking
therefrom the sentences reading as follows:
“The Planning Commission shall have thirty
days within which to submit its report. If the
Planning Commission fails to submit a report
within the thirty-day period, it shall be deemed
to have approved the proposed amendment.”
and substituting in lieu thereof the following
two sentences: “The Planning Commission
shall have forty-five days within which to sub

Hospital, her many friends will

The friends of Mrs. Letson
Britton will be interested to know
that she is a patient at Sylvan
Grove Hospital, having been a
patient there for several days.
