Hoxie Bros.
Circus Here
On April 17
Rex Williams, acclaimed by
fellow circus performers to be
America’s greatest elephant train
er, will appear in Jackson on Fri
day, April 17, when the big 3-
Ring Hoxie Bros. Circus gives
performances at 6 and 8 p. m.
at Fairgrounds.
Hoxie Bros. Circus, America’s
greatest trained animal circus,
has doubled its elephant herd
since last year. New features in
clude the three smallest baby
elephants in captivity, and Rex
and Ava Williams, who will pre
sent five huge pachyderms in the
center ring in an exciting new
elephant display.
Rex has appeared on national
TV, in movies, and with the top
circuses of the world. His act of
five huge elephants appearing to
gether in a performance of peer
less perfection is exciting enough,
but when he brings in three tiny
performing elephants, you will
see an act that can be seen no
where else in the world. Less
than a year old, these babies were
recently flown by airplaine from
Thailand to Hoxie Bros. Elephant
School where they were soon un
der the tutelage of their school
master Rex Williams. Big or
small, the elephant acts with the
Hoxie Bros. Circus are the finest

Southern Railway
Compiles Fire
Plan for Crisis
Southern Railway has compiled
and is distributing an “Emerg
ency Action Plan” to all fire
fighting units along its lines for
use in case of accidents invol
ing the transportation of hazard
ous commodities.
The plan gives directions for
establishing contact with respon
sible railroad officials, both at
the accident scene and in South
ern’s Atlanta, Ga., Control Cen
ter. Also, for identifying any
hazardous materials involved,
evaluating the threat, if any, to
persons and property in the vi
cinity, and determining the pro
per methods to be used in coping
with the emergency.
In a letter accompanying the
plan, Southern’s Director of In
surance, G. E. Buckley, Jr. points
out; “The rapid growth of our
nation’s industries has brought
about a major increase in the
transportation of chemicals and
other materials which, in case of
train derailment, accident, or
other unusual occurrence, may
create hazards to personnel of
responding ffre fighting or other
emergency units.”
The “Emergency Action Plan”
is aimed at ensuring the mainten
ance of communications and the
coordination of action of all par
ties involved should such acci
dents occur, Buckley said.

Make the kind of money you can
build a life around.
Steady money.
And go home every day with something
money can’t buy.
The feeling that people need you.
That’s what a real job will give you. And
that’s what we’ve got waiting for you.
Real jobs.
Jobs that make your wallet feel good.
Jobs that make you feel good because you’re
doing something worthwhile. Jobs that you don t
have to leave home for.
Jobs with good working conditions,
good benefits, good people to work with. Jobs
that go places—and the more you put into your
job, the farther up you go.
But it’s all up to you.
You won’t need previous job
experience, training or special abilities.
Only the willingness to take on a real
job. And work at it.
