of the board of directors on Tues

Wednesday at 11:00 a. m. at the
Macedonia Baptist Church for
Mrs. Gladies Aree Singley Cook,
66, of Stark Community, Rt. 2,
Jackson, who died Monday morn
ing in the Griffin-Spalding Coun
ty Hospital after a long illness.

Primary Senator Walter George
carried Butts County by an over
whelming plurality, Governor
Herman Talmadge had a ma
jority of 245 over M. E. Thomp
son, Vincent Jones defeated B.
H. Hodges for state senator from
the 22nd district by 72 votes and
Dan Fears had a plurality of 880
over his nearest opponent in his
race for representative.
A contract has been signed by
the Butts County Commissioners
for a modern health center to
serve all the county. The federal
government, the state of Georgia
and the county of Butts will all
share in the expenses, the govern
ment to bear the major part of
the cost, estimated at SBO,OOO.
Jackson Kiwanians played host
July 4th to approximately 1,500
sports fans on Scout Island,
crowned Miss Billie Jo Bailey of
Jackson, “Miss Middle Georgia,”
and sponsored some of the most
exciting boat races Jackson Lake
has seen in several years.

Living within two miles of
Jackson, Tab Hardy, widely
known as a mechanic of skill and

office Monday by Mrs. Hardy.

Mr. Alvin W. Plymale, aged 30,
was instantly killed Saturday
morning at a sawmill place on
the Gunn place near Indian
Springs when struck by a limb
of a tree.

out a large area of timber lands
and destroyed several dwellings
near High Falls in Monroe Coun
ty, across the Towaliga River

The death of Mrs. Gordon H.
Thompson, one of Butts County’s
most useful and widely beloved
women, occurred Tuesday morn
ing at the Griffin Hospital. A
very large circle of relatives and
friends were distressed to learn
of her passing which came after
a long and painful illness and a
critical condition that had existed
for several days.

they have the same hopes and ambitions and frustrations as you and I.
You and I like to think we are a little different, of course. But
you and I share something with all other human beings
something very precious. We are all loved by God,
and we should all return a little of that love to
