Congratulations are in order to
Mr. R. Park Newton upon being
named the Kiwanis ‘Man of the
Year’ last Tuesday night at their
weekly dinner meeting. An honor
well deserved, Mr. Newton does
not show his 87 years of wisdom
and is well thought of around
the town square. We understand
he was caught completely un
aware of the planned surprise and
even though his son, Park, Jr.,
came to Jackson from Orange
burg, S. C. to see his father re
ceive this high honor, Mr. Newton
did not dream of his winning
the award We continue
to be amazed at the spunk of
Mrs. W. M. ‘Loma’ Redman.
One can look out just about ev
ery day of the week and she can
be seen walking to town, getting
to her destination perhaps easier
than many of us who drive or
ride everywhere we go. Just Mon
day we saw her down on East
Third Street as if she were out
for a leisurely stroll but at the
some time having a specific des
tination in mind. We would prob
ably all be better off if we just
got half the exercise she gets
by walking Let us take
this opportunity to invite you to
drive by the home of Rev. B. H.

meeting on December 8. Our vic

First, Bobby Pinckney brought
the meeting to order. Then we

The object of the race was to
run and tell the girls three Christ
mas carols and then run back and
tag the next person’s hand. The
winner was the ducks over the
cows. It was a close race. The
ducks were way behind, but John
Deptula ran hard, spit out the
words and out ran the boy that
was halfway back!
We are going to have a Christ
