SAM AND JOSIE GODSEY
family REUNION WAS
HAPPY EVENT on SUNDAY
The family of the late Sam and
Josie Godsey held their annual
Christmas get-together at North
Butts Clubhouse on Sunday, De
cember 20th.
A lovely Christmas tree adorn
ed one corner of the room. At the
noon hour the families all gath
ered around to partake of the
food from the tables filled with
the most sumptuous goodies it
takes to make a Christmas dinner
complete.
Those present to enjoy this
eventful day were: Mr. and Mrs.
E. A. Godsey and Mr. and Mrs.
H. J. Castellaw of Jackson, Mrs.
\V. C. Godsey of Jackson, Mr. and
Mrs. A. W. Hencely of Jackson,
Mr. and Mrs. Luke Freeman, Mr.
Douglas Freeman, Miss Elisabeth
Freeman, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Mad
dox, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Mad
dox and Stan and Miss Bessie
Barnes of Jackson.
Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Godsey, Mr.
and Mrs. Sammy Godsey and
Shannon, Mr. Clifford Godsey
and Connie, Mrs. H. R. Godsey,
and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Davis,

After the luncheon hour gifts
were exchanged and after every
thing was cleared away everyone
departed to their various homes
with joy in thei r hearts that all
were able to be together again
with those unable to attend be
cause of jobs or distance being
missed.

Miss Peggy Holland was hon
oree at a miscellaneous shower,
tendered December 12th by Mrs.
Don Montgomery and Mrs. Billy
Leverette at the Jackson Club
house.
Miss Holland’s marriage to
Paul Rice will be solemnized De
cember 31st at the Towaliga Bap
tist Church.
A Christmas scheme of red
and green was carried out in the
decorations and refreshments.
Several games were enjoyed with
Mrs. James Seckinger and Mrs.
Howard Perdue being winners.
The bride-elect opened an ar
ray of beautiful and useful gifts.
Mrs. Grover E. Lindsey, Miss
Sandra Brown and Miss Maria
Todd assisted in entertaining and
serving. Miss Gigi Leverette kept
the guest book.

Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Rou of

to spend several days during the
holidays with Mrs. E. F. Tharpe.

ARE HOSTS TO STARK
FRIENDSHIP CLUB DEC. 17TH
The Christmas luncheon of the
Stark Friendship Club was a gala
event of December 17th at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. W. M.
Jacobs on Jackson Lake. Thir
teen members and two visitors
were present.
A devotional was given by Mrs.
Lucy Jenkins on “Prophecies of
Isaiah on the Coming of the Mes
siah.”
Following the luncheon a hum
orous poem was given by Mrs.
Nell Swan entitled “Jes Before
Christmas,” one she recited 50
years ago at Stark School. This
led to personal anecedotes from
years past related by different
members which brought lots of
merriment. Gifts were also ex
changed from under the Christ
mas tree.
An expression of thanks from
all present was rendered to the
hostess for inviting the club to
her lovely home which was beau
tifully decorated for the Christ
mas season.

Miss Lucia Car r was honoree
at a 24-hour shower given by
Mrs. E. D. Briscoe and Mrs. Lou
Moelchert at the home of Mrs.
Moelchert on December 17 at
3:30 o’clock.
On arrival, guests were served
from the tea table with Mrs. John
Maddox and Miss Emily Can
pouring tea.
The gifts were presented as the
“hands” of the clock went ’round,
beginning with 6:00 a. m. Many
timely and useful gifts were re
ceived by the honoree appropri
ate for the hours designated.

Mrs. Rogers Starr, Mrs. Bill Sas
ser, Miss Kibbie Car r and Miss
Jean Evans.

We wish to thank our many
friends and relatives for the love,
prayers, visits, phone calls, flow
ers, cards and their sympathy
during the illness and death of
our Mother. It is not until such
as this happens in your own fam
ily that you know the real ex
pression of love of friends. We
all sincerely thank each and
everyone, and special thanks to
the doctors, nurses and aides at
Sylvan Grove Hospital. May the
