Four Juveniles
Arrested In
Lake Break-ins
Four Jackson teenagers, all un
der 16, whose names cannot be
published under Georgia law,
were arrested Friday night and
according to the Butts County
Sheriff s Department, confessed
to breaking and entering 21 Jack
son Lake cabins and cottages
1 hursday and Friday nights, De
cember 17 and 18th.
The sheriff’s department also
said that one and perhaps more
of the youths were involved in
two burglaries in the city which
were cleared up by their appre
hension. The spokesman for the
sheriff’s department said that the
juveniles had been released to
their parents with their cases ex
pected to be heard before juven
ile authorities at an early date.
Most of the break-ins at the
lake were in the area of the old
Jackson Lake Inn and in and
around what is known as Robert’s
Point. The deputy sheriff said
that vandalism in the cottages
entered was to the extent of sev-
eral thousand dollars and that
few contents were taken with the
exception of liquor which, accord
ing to the deputy sheriff, had a
high priority for the youths in
volved. The deputy sheriff said
that most of the damage to the
cabins was to the inside where
furniture and othe r items were
broken, smashed or otherwise de
molished.
