BILLY H. RING, Paato r
Jackson Church of the Naxarene
HAVE YOU EVER PRAYED
THIS PRAYER?
Almighty God, as I lie here on
the bed this lovely Sunday morn
ing surrounded by the Sunday
paper und half listening to a
radio church service, it has just
come to me that I have lied to
Thee and myself. I said I did not
feel well enough to go to church.
This was not true. I was not am
bitious enough. I would have gone
to my job had it been Monday
morning. I would have played
golf had it been Wednesday
afternoon. I would have attended
my luncheon club had it met this
afternoon. I would have been able
to go to a banquet if it had been
Saturday night. But it is Sunday
morning, and Sunday illness
covers a multitude of sins. I was
not ill—l am lazy and indiffer
ent.

Residents
Moved Once
(Special to the Progre*-Argu)
NEW YORK, Jan. 9—Just how
often are residents of Butts
County likely to pick up and
move to another address? How
many of them have been living
in the same house for more than
five years?
According to the latest figures
on the mobility of the population,
from governmental and other
sources, nearly one person out of
every five in the United States
is living in a different house than
he occupied five years ago.
As for local families, they are
less likely to pull up stakes and
move than are people in most
parts of the -country.
Data gathered over the years
by the Department of Commerce
shows that the proportion of
movers in any given area re
mains quite steady, year after
year.
The most recent figures cover
ing BUtts C'ouhty show that some
3,5.82 local residents changed
their addresses at least once in
a period of five years.
Included in this total were 2,-
889 who merely moved to other
locations within the county and
693 who came from outside the
county to make their home in the
local area.
Some, on the other hand, moved
to other sections of the country.
How many is not known, pending
the 1970 census data on mobility,
expected to be released toward
the cud of 1971.
What the figures show, in es
sence, is that 45 out of every
100 people in Butts County over
the age of five, were living in
different houses than they had

occupied five years before.
The 45 percent of movers was
smaller than in the United States
as a whole, the average being
47 percent.
The comparable figure in the
South Atlantic States was 50 per
cent and, in the State, of Geor
gia, 51 per cent.
A number of situations and cir
cumstances are cited to account
for the restlessness shown by so
many people.
More than two-thirds of those
who move do so because of hous
ing or because of some other ne
cessity or choice involving liv
ing arrangements, according to
Census Bureau findings.
Other reasons given for moving
were “to take a job” or “to look
for work” or because of a “job
transfer.”
Often, also, a change in mar
ital status dictates the move.
