The 1971 Heart Fund Cam
paign is well under way, it was

Rev. R. W. Jenkins.
Most of the Jackson business
district has been canvassed and
the merchants responded in a
very gratifying way, he said.
There are still several other busi
ness establishments and indus
tries to be contacted.
The entire month of February
has been designated as Heart
Month throughout the nation.
Sunday, February 21st, has been
named Heart Sunday. On that
Sunday afternoon the homes of
the entire county will be can
vassed and as in the past it is
anticipated that everyone will co
operate.
Mrs. Darrell Pippin has been
enlisted to serve as treasurer for
the campaign and area chairmen
have been named for the various
communities in the county. The
chairmen are as follows: Dennis
A. O’Neal, Jackson; Mrs. George

Airport
Decision
Delayed
The final decision on the lo
cation of Atlanta’s second carrier
aii-port was to have been made
Tuesday, February 9th, but the
meeting between Atlanta city of
ficials and airline representatives
was postponed “until sometime in
the future” by mutual consent
of the involved parties.
Principal cause in the delay in
the crucial meeting was a lack
of information which was par
tially being supplied by the Fed
eral Aviation Authority.
It was reported that the ma
jor point to be ironed out at the
meeting was whethe r or not the
airlines will go along with a pro
gram leading to construction of
an airport in Henry County.
FAA officials have agreed to
extend until March Bth the dead
line for submitting of bids that
are to contain a basic draft of
Atlanta’s second airport.
