Forthcoming Marriage
Miss Deidra Jinks,
Kent Tabb Is Announced
Mrs. Marvin Eslyn Jinks of
Jackson announces the engage
ment and forthcoming marriage
of her daughter, Deidra Jinks, to
Patrick Kent Tabb, U. S. Army,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Nathan
Tabb Jr. of Colquitt and Jackson.
The bride-elect is the daughter of
the late Mr. Jinks.
Miss Jinks is the granddaugh
ter of Mrs. William Jared White
and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Clifford Jinks of Jackson. She is
a student at Tift College, For
syth, Georgia.
Mr. Tabb. is the grandson of
Mr. and Mis. Collie Euzmia Shef
field of Jackson and Mrs. Tom
Nathan Tabb, Sr. and the late
Mr. Tabb of Colquitt. He is sta
tioned at Ft. Jackson, South
Carolina.
The wedding will be at four
o’clock April 17 at the Jackson
United Methodist Church. No in
vitations are being sent. All

SCHOOL CLASS AT PARTY
The members of the Ladies
Adult Sunday School Class of the
Towaliga Baptist Church were
guests at a supper Friday night
by their teacher, Mrs. Kermit K.
Williams, at her home on Route
3, Jackson.
The Williams home was deco
rated throughout with Spring
flowers and included jonquils,
spiraea and forsythia. Amid much
merriment and conversation the
guests enjoyed a sumptuous buf
fet style meal.
Those present, in addition to
the hostess, included Rev. and
Mrs. Joe Parham, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Lane, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar
Weaver, Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Plummer, Mr. and Mrs. Otis
Weaver, Mr. and Mrs. Dwane

JENKINSBURG GARDEN CLUB
MET WITH MRS. T. R. SIMS
The regular monthly meeting
of the Jenkinsburg Garden Club
was held at the home of Mrs.
T. R. Sims on Tuesday, March
9th.
Mrs. Joyce Harris presided
over the business session and also
brought the devotional, using
Psalms I as her scripture refer
ence.
Twelve members answered the
roll call and a visitor, Mrs. Ar
thur Cleveland, was welcomed
by the president. New Year books
were given out by the chairman,
Mrs. Elizabeth Ford, and a cake
sale was planned for April 17th.
Program chairman for the eve
ning was Mrs. Louise Farrar.
She asked several members to
bring containers and materials
for making arrangements with
five different type arrangements
being made and discussed. Much
help was derived by the experi
ence.
After the program concluded,
Mrs. Sims invited members into
the dining room where the table
was laden with goodies includ
ing chicken salad, homemade
fancy cookies, chips and Russian
Tea.

MET WITH MRS. PERDUE
The Hawthon Garden Culb met
Tuesday, March 9, at the home
of Mrs. Howard Perdue. Mrs. A.
D. Pope was co-hostess, and her
sister, Mrs. E. S. Lee was a visi
tor.
Refreshments of strawberry
shortcake, coffee, and nuts, were
served.
The President, Mrs. Paul Mad
dox, called the meeting to order,
and Mrs. Mercer Hodges gave the
devotional, reading a cherished
clipping about lilacs, long been
stored away, which effectively
emphasized the Motto of the
Club, “A Thing of Beauty is a
Joy Forever.”
Mrs. George L. Swan read from
a recent Atlanta Journal and Con
stitution Magazine, the article,
“Your Plants May Read Your
Mind,” written by Wylly Folk
St. John, about Cleve Backster,
who has proved that plants have
memory and some reasoning abil
ity, and how he does it.
Voting on flowers resulted in

DUFFEY FAMILY PLANS
REUNION ON MAY 16th
All members and friends of the
Duffey family are invited to make
plans to attend the Duffey Fam
ily reunion on May 16th at Per
kerson Park in Atlanta. All those
who plan to attend are requested
to bring a basket lunch to be
spread at the noon hour.

Giles Ferry Road. Miss Elliott
was a student at Baylor Univer
sity in Texas but will transfer
to Tift College for the Spring
quarter to complete her educa
tion.
Mr. and Mrs. Butch Miller left
Monday for Kansas City, Missouri
where he will be stationed with
the Air Force.
