Observe Golden Wedding
Anniversary With Open House
Mr. and Mrs. Herschel G. Har
ris were honored with a lovely
Open House in celebration of
their Golden Wedding Anniversa
ry on Feb. 21, 1971 at their home
in Jenkinsburg.
The friends and relatives cal
ling during the afternoon were
greeted in the spacious living
room by Mr. and Mrs. Harris.
Miss Lynn Hoard kept the Guest
Book. Emily Jo and Lee Anne
Harris assisted in receiving and
displaying the many gifts.
The guests were invited into
the dining room where dainty
cakes, nuts, and mints were
served with punch. A lovely wed
ding cake topped with the tradi
tional “Golden 50” was served. A
color scheme of yellow was car
ried out in the refreshments and
decorations. The tables had a
lace cloth overlay on yellow with
silver candelabras holding yellow
candles. A massiv e arrangement
of yellow roses on the buffet
completed the decoration. Yellow
roses were used in the living
room also. Mr. and Mrs. Harris
each chose yellow roses to com
plete their attire.
Mr. and Mrs. Harris’ children
honored them on this memorable
occasion. Those assisting were:

Mr. and Mrs. Vance Ray and
family spent Sunday afternoon
visiting Mr. and Mrs. James Hod
nett at Smyrna. They visited
Mrs. Hodnett at Kenneston e Hos
pital and her new infant daugh
ter, Jimantha Deann, who was
born Friday, March 12th. Mrs.
Hodnett is the sister of Mrs.
Ray.

of their daughter, Mary Ruby
Evans, to Donald Carter Phillips,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Wal
ter Phillips of Jackson.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Beecher Rosser of McDon
ough and Mrs. Vera Evans of
Atlanta and the late Mr. Sam
Evans.
Miss Evans is a 1968 graduate
of Jackson High School and is
presently employed by the State
Revenue Department in Atlanta.
The future bridegroom is a
1964 graduate of Jackson High
School and is presently employed
at the GMAD Lakewood Plant
in Atlanta.
Mr. Phillips is the grandson of
the late Mr. and Mrs. E. Z. Car
ter of Jackson, Mrs. Walter Phil
lips and the late Mr. Phillips of
Flippen.
Rev. R. W. Jenkins will per
form the double ring ceremony
on Easter Sunday, April 11th, at
three o’clock at Macedonia Bap
tist Church, Stark, Georgia.
No invitations are being sent
but all friends and relatives are
invited.

gret to know that she is a pa
tient in the Naval Base Hospital
in Charleston where she has been
confined for several days.
