CHRISTMAS
Instead of gifts that pollute, enviromentalists are, giving gifts
that either improve the environment or at least don’t despoil it.
That’s because millions of Americans are newly concerned with
ecology.
Ecology fans don’t wrap their gifts, in hopes of teaching people
that they shouldn’t pollute with paper bags and wrapping paper.
Friends of the Earth, San Francisco, suggests using bandanas, cloth
napkins or newspapers as wrappings all materials that can cither
bC stores have set up ecology “corners” or “boutiques”,
from which it sells games, kits, sweatshirts, posters and other items.
The kits, designed for children, include “Why Leaves Are Greeni ,
and “Life In The Water”, w'hich provide materials for scientific
experiments The gam J - Ecology, Dirty Water, and Smog - are
Monopoly-like contests designed for older children and adults.
