What are
Happy New Years
made of ?
“MY MOST UNFORGETTABLE memory of
Christmas,” a friend explained, was the fragrance
of ah orange in my Christmas stocking! In those
daySi he owned, the only time he saw an orange
was at Christmas. He didn’t remember eating the
fruit, just that pungent sweetness. Ever since,
the smell of an orange brings back to him the
splendors of Christmas.
AND SO IT seems to have been through his life,
as truely happy a man as you’ve ever known.
He wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth,
nor has his life been a bed or roses

THIS MAN, a successful engineer, doesn’t live in
the past. But along the way he has gathered and
stored more happy memories than most— the
swish of breaking waves, the friendly wag of a
dog’s tail, the eerie honk of geese in the night -
these and many other happy moments he remem
bers and cherishes.
THINGS, such as most of us are concerned with
acquiring, he has. But they are not the source of
his happiness. His thoughts, friends, love, faith,
and an affection for humanity these are his
precious things.
“I WANT to be happy,” you’ve heard it sung
s.o many times at New Year’s gathering , perhaps
last evening. Only most of us don’t know what
happiness Is made of.
SO in our search we need New Year’s as a time
for correcting our course, to fill our sails with
better intentions, and hope to fetch the port of
Happiness. Or we could follow the tack of our
friend who has made it! HONOR AMERICA
