Are United in Marriage
Miss Claudia Ann Wilkerson,
daughter of Mrs. Edna Cochran
Wilkerson of Atlanta and the
late Emory Lamar Wilkerson, be
came the bride of Michael Jack
MeKinney, son of Mr.- and Mrs.
J. A. McKinney of Phenix City,
Alabama, on March 26th.
The bride’s maternal grand
parents are Mrs. A. M. Cochran
and the late Mr. Cochran of
Jackson; paternal grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Wilkerson
of Jackson.
The double ring ceremony was
performed by the Rev. Wilber
Huckeba at two thirty o’clock in
the chapel of the Cruselle-Free
man Church of The Deaf before
an arch of fern balls and white
candles.
Nuptial music was provided by
Miss Joyce Carrigan, pianist, and
Rev. Dwayne Carroll, soloist.
The bride, given in marriage
by her grandfather, Mr. J. F.
Wilkerson, was radiant in an A
line gown of white bridal satin
featuring an empire waist and

edged in lace, also featured ap
pliqued lace flowers. She wore
an elbow length veil of illusion
held in place by a crown of seed
pearls. White'-carnations, topped
with a white orchid, formed the
bridal bouquet.
Mrs. Gail Burford, cousin of
the bride, served as Matron of
Honor. Bridal attendants were
Miss Sherry McKinney, Mrs. Su
san Wood and Mrs. Karen Crutch
field, all sisters of the groom.
They wore identical floor
length gowns of American Beau
ty and light pink crepe. Their
headpieces were matching Amer
ican Beauty velvet bows and il
lusion. They carried a single long
stemmed glamellia with matching
ribbon streamers.
Durrell Wood, brother-in-law
of the groom, served as best man.
Usher groomsmen were David
Burford of Flovilla, Ralph Faulk
ner of Warner Robins, and Ron
ald Harrison of Phenix City,
Alabama.

Mrs. Wilkerson, mother of the
bride, chose an ensemble of pink
polyester with matching accesso
ries. She completed her attire
with a pink cymbidium orchid.
Mrs. McKinney, mother of the
groom, wore a salmon and white
knit ensemble and a cymbidium
orchid corsage.
The reception was held imme
diately following the ceremony
in the Church Fellowship Hall.
The tables were decorated with
pink camellias. The three-tiered
wedding cake was decorated with
white orchids and pink roses and
topped with a bride and groom
figurine.
Miss Debbie Cochran, cousin of
the bride, kept the bride’s book.
Serving were Misses Rhetta
Crowe, Jocelyn Still and Lynette
Wilson.
The bride chose an ensemble
of turquoise with brown accesso
ries for her going away outfit.

Jackson, Ga., has completed the
basic Military Science Police
Course conducted by the Coastal
Carolina Community College,
Jacksonville, N. C.
Worth three-and-one-half col
lege credit hours, the course
was designed to give him and
other -military policemen advan
ced training useful in their du
ties at the Marine Corps Base,
Camp LeJeune, N. C.
As well as training him in mil
itary police science, the course
covered civilian justice and police
practices which will be of use
should he desire to go into police
work upon separation from the
service.
He is a 1969 graduate of Hen
derson High School.
She wore the orchid from her
bridal bouquet.
After a short wedding trip,
the newlyweds are residing in
Atlanta.

Roy J. Moon
Buried At
Sandy Creek
Mr. Roy Jackson Moon, 64, of
Route 1, Flovilla, died at 2:20
o’clock Wednesday afternoon on
April 12th at the Sylvan Grove
Hospital after being a patient
there for six days. He had been
in declining health for several
years.
Mr. Moon was born November
20, 1907 in Haralson County, the
son of the late Mr. John Richard
Moon and Mrs. Ida Partain
Moon, both of Haralson County.
He was a retired sales represen
tative for the Draper Corporation
of Hopedale, Mass, and was a
member of Indian Springs Ma
sonic Lodge No. 307.
Funeral services were conduc
ted Saturday afternoon at two
o’clock from the chapel of Hais
ten Funeral Home with Rev. Leon
Cross, pastor of Mt. Vernon Bap
tist Church, officiating. Inter
ment was in Sandy Creek Ceme
tery with Masons in charge of
the graveside services and serv

bert of Flovilla, Mrs. B. E. Brooks
of Griffin; two sons, Clarence J.
Moon of Jacksonville, Fla. and
James H. Moon of Griffin; two
sisters, Mrs. Ollie Cooper of Mil
ledgeville, Mrs. Lloyd York of
Dallas; one brother, John T.
Moon of Dawsonville; 26 grand
children; 8 great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
Masons served as pallbearers.
