UP WITH JESUS
UP WITH JESUS! Why am I
so happy today? Happy because
Jesus is a Friend of mine. In
Matthew 11:19c it says, Jesus,
“a friend of publicans and sin
ners.”
Do you need a friend? Have
you any friends? Jesus wants to
be your friend. Will you be a
friend of His?
How many times have you no
ticed at work, at play or at school
those people who have no friends.
They stay by themselves, they are
lonely and very unhappy. Have
you ever noticed how people
avoid some people, they just do
not have any friends. I believe
that Jesus wants to be a friend
of those who have no friends.
The poor, the lonely, the sick, the
rich, the middle class and those
who have no seemly earthly
friends. If Jesus was here today
on earth in the flesh who would
He be seeking? He would seek
those who need help.
In talking about Jesus as a
friend the hymn writer says it
so well “A Friend when other
friendships cease, a Friend when
others fail, A Friend who gives
us joy and peace, A Friend when
foes assail. A Friend when sick
ness lays me low, A Friend when
death draws near, A Friend as
through the vale I go, A Friend to
help and cheer. A Friend when
life’s short race is o’er, A Friend
when earth is past, A Friend to
meet on heaven’s shore, a Friend
when home at last.” Praise the
Lord! UP WITH JESUS! What
a Friend we have in Jesus. What
fellowship. What communion. I
am so glad that Jesus is a friend
of mine.
How can Jesus become your
friend if He is not already? Be
fore Jesus can be your friend, He
must become your Savior. Jesus
can become your Savior by
Acknowledging that you are a
sinner (Rom. 3:23), by Repent
ing of your sins (Acts 3:19); by
Confeuing your sins (I Jn. 1:9);
by Forsaking your sins (Isa. 55:-
7); by Believing (Rom. 10:1)
and by Receiving (Jn. 1:11 and
12). Why not bow your head in
prayer and ask Jesus to become
your Savior. Then Jesus can be
