A Few Snow
Flakes Fell
On Monday
If you count a few fitful
flakes that fell intermittently
Monday morning, then one
might say that it snowed here
during that period. The flakes
were sparsely interspersed and
did not fall heavy enough to be
counted as a flurry, but still
there were a few flakes in the
wintry, icy air.
A cold front moved across
Georgia Sunday night with
snow fall in Atlanta and
northward considerably heavi
er than in Jackson. A ranger
atop Brasstown Bald reported
several inches of snow by
Sunday night with snow
accumulations covering the
ground at higher elevations in
the Georgia mountains.
Cold winds during the day
Monday brought cold wave
conditions to Central and South
Georgia Monday night with the
mercury plunging to the 18-20
degree mark in Butts County
and much lower in North
Georgia.
