BRENDA WILLIAMSON!
We are inordinately proud
that Mrs. R. C. Edwards has
been selected as the STAR
teacher in Henry County.
During her many years as a
teacher she has improved the
minds of the students who were
fortunate enough to be mem
bers of her classes and
possesses a devotion to her
duty much as a mother looks
after her newborn child. We
extend our heartiest congratu
lations to her upon receiving
this honor .... Mr. J. G.
Webb of Forsyth dropped by
the office Tuesday of last week
to renew his subscription and
left us with this little bit of
knowledge, “there’s nothing
prettier than pretty flowers, a
good looking woman and anew
automobile!” .... The Red
Cross Bloodmobile will make
its scheduled visit Monday,
April 2nd, with a 138 pint quota
of blood to be met by Butts
County citizens. It behooves us
all to join hands in this
worthwhile cause and see that
the quota is raised. The quota
setwould be a mere drop in the
bucket if all who are physically
able would drop by the
National Guard Armory be
tween the hours of one and 5:30
o’clock Monday afternoon. A
pint of blood is nothing
compared to the life you may
save and means everything to
the recipient. To those few
faithful persons who are
always on hand to offer blood it
is beyond understanding why
the quota cannot be met since
the county has a population of
some 10,000 of all age groups.
John Bilty Long, Blood
Recruitment chairman, urges
those who will to come and
wholeheartedly support the
bloodmobile at its Monday
visit .... PaigeTatumand

Adding to ' their
excitement was an appearance
by Johnny Cash highlighted by
their meeting him personally.
Mrs. M. W. Juhlin, Paige’s
mother, said last week that
Paige remarked she would
never wash the hand which had
been held by Johnny as they
walked down a flight of stairs.
The day was an adventure that
each will long remember ....
Her many friends are delighted
to learn that Mrs. Mildred
Ballenger has been recuperat
ing so well following recent
surgery at the University of
Kansas Medical Center in
Kansas City, Kansas. Mrs.
Ballenger and her sister, Miss
Ethel Smith, were expected to
return to their Jackson home

born Monday, the 19th, in the
Griff in-Spalding County Hos

anticipating a little girl and
were unprepared with a boy’s
name in the event “Mr. Stork”

family was known as Baby Boy
Daniel for several days
following his birth. Mr. Daniel
has been the target of an
enormous amount of teasing
and stated Thursday that “we
can’t find a name good enough
for him” .... Mrs. Dollie
Bailey, well known Jackson
matron, stepped in the office
last Thursday to check on her
subscription and quipped “I’d
just as soon do without my
breakfast as to go without my
Progress-Argus.” She is one of
Jackson’s better known ma
trons who is never at a loss for
words and is liked by one and
all who meet her.
