Jenkinsburg Iris Show
Is Event of April 28th
The public is cordially
invited toattend the annual Iris
Tour on Saturday, April 28th,
from twountilsix o’clock in the
afternoon. The tour is spon
sored by the Jenkinsburg
Garden Club and no admission
will be charged to the affair.
The tour is a keenly
anticipated event by Iris lovers
of this section who will gaze
upon many species of the
flower during the four hour
tour.
The tour will begin at the
home of Mrs. T. T. Patrick
after which it will progress to
the Iris gardens of Mrs. W. J.
Saunders, Mrs. H. G. Harris,
Mrs. T. H. Price, Mrs. M. B.
Farrar, Miss Ruby Lane and
Mrs. J. 0. Minter.
SUNRISE SERVICE AT
TOWALIGA BAPTIST
The public is extended an
invitation to attend an Easter
Sunrise Service Sunday, April
22nd, at the Towaliga Baptist
Church beginning at 6:15 a.m.
The pastor, Rev. J. C.
Parham, continues as a patient
at Georgia Baptist Hospital
and it is not known at the
present time if he will be able
toattend. The service will be
conducted by leaders in the
churchwithspecial music to be
provided.

Little Miss Renee Cook,
daughter of Rev. and Mrs.
Gary Cook, celebrated her
second birthday Sunday after
noon, April 15th,from 2:3ountil
four o’clock.
Those attending to help
Renee celebrate her birthday

Debbie James, Keith James,
Tracy James, Mickey James,
Wendy Lowery, Kim Lowery
and Brady Washington.
Games of Fruit Basket Turn
Over and Steal the Bacon were
enjoyed with a film of Donald
Duck shown afterwards. After
the many nice birthday gifts
were opened, delicious cake
and Coke were served.
PERSONAL
Friends of Troy Allen are
glad to learn he returned home
last Thursday from Middle
Georgia Hospital in Macon
where he underwent tests and
observation for several days.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Jett and
family will leave Sunday night
for a visit during the Easter
week with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. K. R. Bartow, and family
in Dallas, Texas.

CLUB MET AT HOME OF
MRS. FRANK MOORE
The regular monthly meet
ing of the Towaliga Community
Club was held at the home of
Mrs. Frank Moore with Mrs.
Gerome Washington as co
hostess. The home was
beautifully decorated with
African Violets and spring
flowers.
Mrs. Lynn Shadrix, presided
over the meeting with 15
members and one visitor
present.
A devotion, taken from
Matthew 23:12, was given by
Mrs. Newton Etheridge, Sr.
who enumerated points of “A
Life Worth Living.” In conclu
sionshe gavea reading of ‘The
Legend of the Dogwood.”
Minutes of the March
meeting were read and
approved after which the
treasurer’s report was given.
The chib discussed supplying
some of the needs for the
Retarded Children’s Day
School with several checks
being donated for this purpose.
A white elephant sale was
planned for the next meeting to
help with the funds.
Mrs. Eugene Parrish, Sr.
read an interesting poem,
“Comparison in Life,” and
Mrs. Wilmer Garr gave
several recipes on “Baking for
Easter” as well as a contest.
The May meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. T. T.
Patrick with Mrs. Dean
Patrick and Mrs. Wendel
Spencer as co-hostesses.
Mrs. Patrick also invited the
club to join the Iris Show tour
on April 28th.

the Daughters of the American
Revolution will be held at the
Jackson Club House Saturday,
April 21st, at 3 o’clock.
Miss Lois McMichael will
give the program on Conserva
tion.

Mrs. T. P. Thurston was
admitted Wednesday to Grif
fin-Spalding County Hospital
and is scheduled for surgery
Friday.
Miss Ginny Etheredge erf
Atlanta was at home for the
weekend with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. G. N. Etheredge.
JENKINSBURG GARDEN
CLUB OBSERVED 36th
ANNIVERSARY TUESDAY
Mrs. Thomas Sims and Mrs
M. B. Farrar were co-hostesse
to the Jenkinsburg Gardei
Club at the home of Mrs. Sinu
on Tuesday evening, April 10th
The meeting was in celebra
tion of the 36th anniversary of
the club, it being organized
April 27, 1937. Sixteen mem
bers were present and guests
included Mes dames E. D.
Pa trick, Lamar Weaver, Oscar
Weaver, Fred Caldwell, J. O.
Beauchamp, Dorothea Infinger
and Lillian Craven.
Mrs. Farrar, program chair
man, presented the interesting
program by giving highlights
of the history of the club and
many unusual incidents of the
club which were hilarious to
club members and guests. An
article taken from the Macon
Telegraph 30 years ago
pertaining to the national
recognition which the Jenkins
burg Garden Club had ac
quired through its famous
annual Iris Tour and other
flower shows was read by Mrs.
Sims.
Happy Birthday was sung to
Mrs. Lucille Fletcher who
celebrated her birthday during
the week. Members and guests
were invited to look at the
display of all the club books
made from the beginning of the
club until the present.
The five charter members,
Mrs. Louise Farrar, Mrs. Julia
Harris,Mrs. J. O. Minter, Mrs.
T. R. Sims and Mrs. W. J.
Saunders, led the group into
the dining room where a three
tiered cake, embossed in green
and yellow, numerous dainty
sandwiches, cakes, nuts, and
punch were served.

Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Post
visited Mrs. Brooks Turner at
Jasper Memorial Hospital in
Monticello Sunday of last
week.
Mr.and Mrs. O. B. Bankston
had as their Wednesday
luncheon guests Mr. and Mrs.
Dale Owen and Miss Edith
Frohm of Kankakee, Illinois,
Rev. and Mrs. Lon L. Hadwin
and family and Rev. Gerald
Parmer of Lanett, Alabama.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Black
were hosts Friday evening to
the Men’s Club from St.
Augustine Episcopal Church in
Morrow at a dinner meeting.
The group enjoyed a delicious
supper along with games and
fellowship.

Kimberly Harper receives $25 Bond from Charles W. Greer.
Kimberly Harper Named
"Young Girl of Month"
The Jackson Exchange Club
signally honored Kimberly
Harper by being selected
Outstanding Young Girl of the
Month for March.
The presentation was made
by Charles W. Greer, president
of the Exchange Club at a
recent meeting.
Kim, 14, is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Harper of
Jackson and is an eighth grade
student at Henderson Junior
High. She was born and reared
in Jackson and was on the
honor roll last year as a
seventh grade student, receiv
ing a plaque for this
achievement.
Kimberly is a faithful
member of the Second Baptist
Church where she sings in the
Youth Choir and participates in
church affairs.
She lists her hobbies as
knitting, crocheting, swim
ming, fishing, skating and
sewing.
She was presented a $25 U. S.
Savings Bond by the Exchange
Club.
TIFT CHOIR WILL
SING HERE EASTER
The Tift College Baptist
Student Union Choir will bring
a program of music and
testimonies Sunday evening,
April 22nd, at the First Baptist
Church beginning at 7:30
o’clock.
The choir is an outstanding
group and is well known
throughout Georgia, according
to Rev. Donald Folsom, pastor
of First Baptist Church. The
public is cordially invited to
attend.
