Sunday is Easter Sunday.
Fot many it’s a time of putting
on the newest and finest of
frocks to wear to church or to
visit friends and relatives and
for enjoying a sumptuous
Easter dinner with family
members. .But for Christians
the new clothes, hats, etc. and
the family dinners will mean
little as they rejoice over the
resurrection of Jesus Christ on
the third morning after His
crucifixion, death and burial.
Easter egg hunts are usually
very much a part of the
children’s activities but one
doubts seriously if many take
interest in the Easter custom of
giving eggs. The eggs are
considered a symbol of life, as
Christ’s tomb, while the hollow
chocolate eggs, when broken,
are found, like the tomb, to be
empty. I trust you will have a
happy and joyous Easter ....
Speaking of Easter, the Butts
County Ministerial Association
is sponsoring their annual
Easter Sunrise Service at the
Indian Springs State Park
Ravillion. This joining together
of Christians early on Easter
morn often forms a bond of
Christian love and fellowship
and many times is a
strengthening of Christian ties.
The association’s president,
Rev. Don Folsom, extends a
cordial invitation to all Butts
Countians to attend the 6:30
service . . . . Revival services
are being held this week at the
Jackson Church of the Naza
rene and 1 invite you to come to
the remaining five services.
We only recently completed a
very successful weekend youth
revival with many of our teens
finding Christ and we expect
great things to happen before
this week’s revival is over
Sunday night. A young and
dynamic speaker, Rev. Gerald
Parmer, of Lanett, Ala. is
bringing the messages while
Dale and Ellie Owen and Miss
Edith Frohm of Kankakee,
Illinois are providing special
music. Come and receive a
blessing. Services start each
evening at 7:30 o’clock and on
Sunday morning at eleven
o’clock .... The familiar face
of Joel Crane is being missed at
Indian Springs State Park
following his retirement there
as Park Ranger. His retire
ment came after 25 years
service with Indian Springs
where he aided the Park
Superintendent in caring for
the park and guiding tourist
and campers to their camping
sites. Mr. Crane said following
his retirement that he was glad
he was healthy enough to enjoy
being retired and that he could
now catch up on some long
sought after fishing. We
congratulate him upon his
retirement .... The famed
Sylvan Grove Hospital Auxil
iary Cookbooks are selling at a
fast pace with some 500
already having been sold. The
money derived from cookbook
sales goes toward scholarships
in medical careers and toward
patient care at Sylvan Grove
Hospital. The Auxiliary mem
bers have put many long hours
into the make-up and sales of
these cookbooks and all
persons who have purchased
them have been very pleased
with results of the recipes
tried. If you desire a cookbook,
it is advisable to get your order
in soon. They’re going like
hotcakes.
HAIR CARE TIPS
Water type determines the
kind of shampoo you should
use, says Mary Lou Dixon,
home economist at the Uni
versity of Georgia Cooperative
Extension Service. Washing
with soft water? Use soap—
you’ll have lustrous and
manageable locks. For hard
water, believe it or not, the
best choice is detergent. With
it, you should get a natural
shine.
COOKING IN FILM
It’s a fact. Foods cooked in
oven bags taste better, say
experts at the University of
Georgia Cooperative Extension
Service. Meats are moist and
juicy. Fish retains moistness
for best flavor. And, vegetables
retain their natural food value.
