AFTER EASTER WHAT?
Rev. J. C. Parham,
Pastor, Towaliga
Baptist Church
Herod felt that he was secure
ow in his position as Jesus had
een crucified. The Scribes and
’harisees were content be
ause the One who had been
ndermining their teachings
ad been silenced by death.
Tie disciples had returned to
heir respective secular voca
ions, feeling that the one they
ad hoped was the Messiah had
ow come to the close of his
areer. - Defeat was theirs -
’o whom would they turn now?
But then the glorious news,
‘He is risen.” (Matt. 28:6).
Vhat a difference it made with
lis followers. Death and the
;rave could not conquer their
jord. They served a living
Tirist. One who said “Lo, I am
vith you always.”
After Easter what? They
vent out “to turn the world
ipside down.” There was no
loubt as to who this Jesus of
Nazareth is. They knew He
■ould go with them where ever
hey went. We, too, know He
ives because “He lives within
air hearts.”
These early disciples could
tot help but share the things
hey had experienced with
ithers. May we share Him with
hose who know Him not as
ong as we remain on earth,
hen shall we go to be with
rlim, for we shall be a glorified,
spiritual body. Christ is the
irst fruits of those who are
esurrected.
What’s our mission after
Easter? To serve the living
Christ through life with the
lope of one day being raised
vith Him to live with Him
orever in heaven.
The early first century
Christians went out to take the
vorld for Christ. Nothing could
quench their faith - not even
death itself. May that faith live
m in us!
