ABOUT 100 DESCENDANTS
OF JAMES L. TINGLE
MET AT HIGH FALLS
On Sunday, July 22nd, about
100 descendants of James
La Fayette Tingle met at High
Falls State Park for their
annual family reunion.
Mr. Tingle, born in 1841 near
Blount Community in Monroe
County, was tenth of eleven
children born to Daniel and
Berthenia (Parthenia) Hatch
er Tingle, who lived as early as
1829 in the Jaekson-Forsyth
area.
Along with three brothers,
James La Fayette Tingle
served his country during the
War Between the States,
enlisting in Monroe Cos., Ga. He
and one brother were seriously
wounded though all four
returned home.
Mr. Tingle was first married
to Miss Sara Elizabeth McCal
lum. After her death he was
married to Miss Tommie
Tucker. There were children
born to both of these unions
making a large family.
All of these children have
died except one daughter, Mrs.
Zadie Mae Tingle Darden of
Milner who will celebrate her
84th birthday on September
20th. This writer, after having
done much research, believes
her mother, Mrs. Darden, to be
the only living grandchild of
Daniel and Berthenia (Par
thenia) Tingle.
This family of Tingle
descendants began a reunion
