Mr. and Mrs. Joel Crane had
as their weekend guests Mr.
and Mrs. Jerry Crane from
Warner Robins and their
Sunday guests were Wayne
Crane and his son, Jim, from
Macon and Mr. and Mrs.
Danny Hoard and Barrett.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hoard
spent Wednesday in Macon
with Mrs. Tommy Cook
visiting Mrs. Hoard’s sister,
Mrs. W. T. Roach, who is
recuperating from recent sur
gery. Mrs. Dan Hoard, Mrs.
Danny Hoard and Barrett
spent Friday in Macon.
Mrs. A. 0. Allen attended
Rev. Roloff’s camp meeting
last week in Culloden. Rev.
Roloff is from Corpus Christi,
Texas. Mrs. Allen’s step
mother, Mrs. J. R. Boggs, of
Atlanta is with her this week.
Mrs. A. 0. Allen had Rev.
and Mrs. Carlock from Indian
Springs Camp Ground for
Sunday luncheon.
Miss Ethel Webb from
Jackson had as her guest for
Sunday dinner at the Elder
Hotel this Reporter, Mr. Grier
and Robert W. Grier, Jr.
A car ran a stop sign at 87
and 23 last Sunday and hit Mr.
and Mrs. W. B. Ashley’s car.
There was about S2OO worth of
damage to the car but all in it
escaped injury.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Ashley’
had their son and family visit
them last Sunday, Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd P. Ashley, from
Atlanta. Quinton B. Ashley,
another son, and his family
have moved their trailer from

Labor Day weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Clyde Herbert.

and Mrs. Ronnie Peters of
Marietta, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle

Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy
Faulkner and sons, Ricky and
Ronnie, of Mableton, Mrs.
Marlene Erwin and son, Neal,
of Forest Park and Mr. and
Mrs. E. L. York of Locust
Grove.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Duvall
Patrick, along with Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph Piro of Milledge
ville, enjoyed vacationing last
week at Daytona Beach, Fla.
Also enjoying the week at
Daytona were Dr. and Mrs. E.
V. Patrick of Carrollton.
Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Stevenson
returned Thursday from an
enjoyable visit to Panama
City, Florida.

Mr. and Mrs. Julius Spoon
spent last Monday in Macon.
They visited with Mrs. Spoon’s
daughter from Saturday until
Tuesday, Mrs. Helen Schwam
lein in Forsyth.
The Darrows and Mrs. Rita
Stewart have their Shoppe
open. All will enjoy visiting
there as they have some lovely
handmade gifts plus the arts
and crafts.
Mrs. Grace Torbett has
returned to California after a
month here at her home. Grace
came by to visit all the
neighbors before leaving.
Friday morning Miss Pah
Galt and Mr. Rick Maley
motored to Ft. Lauderdale,
Fla. to visit Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Castiglone for two days.
They then will motor to Miami,
Fla. for several days visit with
Miss Galt’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Lewis A. Galt, her
grandmother, Mrs. Betty
Craft, and other relatives, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Braun and
family, before she resumes her
studies at the University of
Georgia.
Friends of L. W. May regret
to learn he is a patient at
Northside Hospital in Atlanta
where he was transferred
Sunday evening from Sylvan
Grove Hospital. Mr. May was
admitted to Sylvan Grove
Hospital Tuesday of last week.
Mrs. Arnette Kirkland is a
patient in Talmadge Memorial
Hospital in Augusta, her
friends regret to learn.
Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Cain of
Atlanta were Saturday lunch
eon guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Naamon York.

Day Care
Center Needs
Equipment
The Butts County Day Care
and Training Center located on
North Mulberry Street is in
need of several additional
items of equipment rocking
chairs, picnic tables and
benches, sewing machines
(especially the old pedal
models in working order)
record players and quiet
records, an iron and ironing
board, 3 portable ironing
boards and sturdy small tables
about card table size.
No state or federal funds are
available for equipment. The
Center operates on a very tight
budget based on S2OO per month
per individual in daily atten
dance. This pays salaries, bus
transportation, lunches and
snacks, rent and a minimum
for daily programming. The
extras supplies, equipment
and maintenance of the Center
must be supplied by the
community.
Butts Countians from county
and city officials, to church and
civic groups, to individuals
have been most generous in
their support of the Center.
Some 20 individuals daily enjoy
the services it has to offer.
The Center is under the
sponsorship of the Butts
County Board of Health,
supported by the Butts County
Association for Retarded
Children and the Butts County
Day Care and Training Center
Auxiliary.
Those having equipment or
money to donate contact the
Center by phone 775-5129, or
better yet, go by and visit in
person. One hour spent
observing and working with
these exceptional children and
adults tells you more than a
million words.

She is assisted by Mrs. Myrtle
Head, Mrs. Carolyn Morgan,
Mrs. Elizabeth Powell, and
Mrs. Annie Maude Myrick.
Mrs. Nancy McGinnis serves
two days weekly as secretary.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Smith,
Mr.and Mrs. Robert Strawn
and Mrs. Trudie Faulkner
spent an enjoyable day in
Macon Tuesday on a shopping
spree.
Visitors of Mrs. Howard J.
Jolly last week were Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Taylor of Pooler,
Mrs. Robert Grier, Sr. of
Indian Springs and Miss Ethel
Webb of Jackson.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Smith
have returned from an enjoy
able visit in Hastings, Fla.
where they visited Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Smyly. While
away they visited Daytona, St.
Augustine and many other
points of interest and enroute
home had the misfortune to be
involved in a automobile
accident in Monroe County in
which a car pulled into the path
of their car. Mrs. Smith
suffered a cracked wrist and
bruises on her body in the
mishap.
New Film
Be Shown
At Church
ISN’T IS GOOD TO KNOW, a
new film that abandons
traditional story lines to
involve the viewer in the
life-experiences of real people,
will be shown on Sunday and
Monday, September 16 and
17th, at the First Baptist
Church of Jackson, Georgia.
The latest film from World
Wide Pictures, producers of
TIME TO RUN, will be shown
once each evening beginning at
7:30.
The picture was edited and
directed by J. Michael Hooser,
a young 26 year-old film maker
who brings provocative new
techniques to his first major
film. Using a varying number
of images on the same screen,
Hooser creates a multi-media
effect that draws the viewer
into the picture.
ISN T IT GOOD TO KNOW is
currently being shown in
thousands of locations across
the country each month.
Pastor Donald L. Folsom, who
has made the arrangements
for these special free showings
of ISN’T IT GOOD TO KNOW,
extends a cordial invitation to
all families in the area to
attend.
This same film will also be
shown at Macedonia Baptist
Church at 8 p.m., September
16th and 17th. Rev. R. W.
Jenkins, pastor, extends an
invitation to members and
friends to attend the showing of
ISNT IT GOOD TO KNOW.

Mrs. Albert Brown and
children, David, Holly and
Melody, were weekend guests
of her sister, Mrs. David Guest,
and Mr. Guest in Americus and
of her cousin, Mrs. Ennis
Clark, in Columbus. Enroute
home they toured the Little
White House and Callaway
Gardens. David will leave soon
for Niagara College in Well
ingford, Canada. Mrs. Brown
and her family left Wednesday
for Trinidad where they will
join her husband, an official of
the United Nations, for a two
year stay.
Rev. and Mrs. S. J. Westbury
and Ron Westbury left Labor
Day for Springfield, Missouri
where Ron will resume his
studies at Central Bible College
as a junior. Rev. and Mrs.
Westbury will return to their
home at the end of the week.

Atlanta Airport Monday morn
ing for the purpose of taking
Martin Ridgeway, Douglas
Briscoe and Harry Lewis to
embark on their Eastern
Airline flight to Nassau. While
in Nassau for approximately 10
days they will be guests of Jim
Masko on his yacht. Forming a
party of Georgia and Nassau
young men, they’ll cruise from
island to island skiing and sight
seeing. Jim Masko is from
Nassau and an engineer major
at Georgia Tech.

Jackson the first of the week.
Mrs. J. A. Dodson, who
entered Medical Center of
Central Georgia on Monday,
August 27th, and underwent
surgery on the following
Tuesday, left the hospital on
Saturday and is at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Watson Fisher in
Perry. She is recuperating
satisfactorily and is expected
to return to her home here the
last of the week.
Mrs. Alton Coleman has
returned home from and
enjoyable visit with Lt. Col.
Alton H. Coleman, Mrs.
Coleman and children of
Newport News, Virginia.
Sunday dinner guests of Mrs.
Jessie Mackey were Mrs. Bob
Prater of Warm Springs and
Mr. and Mrs. B. O. Williamson.
Mr. and Mrs. Darwin
Campbell and family visited
Sunday afternoon in Macon
