Eloise, to David Allison Cook,
son of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Cook
of Jenkinsburg, Georgia.
The bride-elect is the
granddaughter of Mrs. Homer
Ham and the late Mr. Ham of
Jackson, Georgia, and the late
Mr. and Mrs. James Drayton
Brownlee.
She is a 1970 graduate of
Jackson High School and is
currently attending West Geor
gia College. She will receive
her B. S. degree in Special
Education in March of 1974.

September for surgery and is
expected to be there about two

visited Tuesday through Thurs
day of last week in Jackson
ville, Florida with Mr. Glide
well’s aunts, Miss Grace
Glidewell and Mrs. Joe
Dunlap.
The future bridegroom is the
grandson of the late Mr. and
Mrs. C. H. Farrar of
Jenkinsburg, Georgia, and
Mrs. A. S. Cook and the late
Mr. Cook of Jackson, Georgia.
He is a 1969 graduate of
Jackson High School and
received his BBA degree in
Marketing and Management
from West Georgia College in
June, 1973. He is currently
employed in Griffin, Georgia
with Liberty National Life
Insurance Company.
The wedding is planned for
December 16th at Mt. Vernon
Baptist Church, Jackson, Geor
gia.

In observance of National
Business Women’s Week, Octo
ber 21-27, the Jackson B&PW
Club’s program Monday even
ing under the guidance of Mrs.
Robert C. Edwards, chairman
of the World Affairs Commit
tee, began with the reading by
Mrs. Jane Powell of a
proclamation, signed by Mayor
Robert Mackey, which pro
claimed National Business
Women’s Week.
Mrs. Ruth Bryant gave the
invocation; Miss Ruby Lane
led the group in the Pledge to
the Flag and in singing
America The Beautiful.
Miss Elizabeth McMichael,
membership chairman, pre
sented certificates to Pam
Maddox, Mary Fears, Gladys
Shaw and Carol Taylor, as well
as their sponsors.
Mrs. Edwards presented
Mrs. Nancy Houghtaling who
spoke on World Population -
how long the earth can support
the population with 55 people
per square mile in United State
compared to 700 per square
mile in Japan.
Mrs. Maureen Shields told of
the vital roles that women are
playing with women being
given opportunities to excell
and advance in the field of
science, industry, medicine
and government.
She also told of a national
BPW project whose request is
that each club start a talent
bank with the objective to find
women who are talented,
interested and able to fill
administrative or political
offices or to act in an advisory
capacity.
Mrs. Beth Hearn spoke on
UN Day and its value today,
and Mrs. Edwards spoke on
ERA.
The president announced the
business meeting for Tuesday
evening, November 6th, at the
C&S Bank civic room.
Foreign artifacts were ar
ranged by Mrs. Florence Grier
and other members of the
World Affairs Committee.
PERSONAL
Mr. and Mrs. Joe B. Taylor
will attend the Georgia-Ken
tucky game in Athens Saturday
and will visit with their
daughter, Miss Susan Taylor, a
student at the University of
Georgia.
Chris Elliott of Charleston, S.
C. is visiting his grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Elliott,
and aunts, Misses Wendy,
Elaine and Mary Ann Elliott,
for several weeks.
Mrs. Donald Gray has
returned from a week’s visit
with her children, Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Haire, and Janet in
Hamlet, N. C. Mrs. Haire and
Janet returned home with her
for a visit of several weeks with
her parents.
