Leverrett-Ruff Nuptials
Solemnized October 21
Miss Kathy Leverrett and
Kim C. Ruff, both of Jackson,
were married at an impressive
ceremony October 21st at the
Mt, Vernon Baptist Church
before an assemblage of
friends and relatives. Rev. J.
B. Bennett of Albany, a former
pastor, officiated at the double
ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Leverrett
of Jackson. Mr. Ruff is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Ruff of
Charleston, South Carolina.
Nuptial music was rendered
by Mrs. Margaret Morris of
Jackson. She accompanied
Mrs. Ava Smith, soloist, who
rendered selections of “Love
Me Tender” and “Saviour,
Like A Shepherd Lead Us.”
The wedding vows were
spoken before a background of
emerald fern sunbursts and
candelabra with gold burning
tapers. The aisle on which the
bride entered was lined with
arrangements of gold and
bronze daisies and mums and
talisman satin streamers.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was radiant in an
A-line gown of Angel Skin
organza featuring a high
Alencon lace collar, long full
Bishop sleeves and an empire
waist. An attached chapel
length train fell from the
accordian pleated organza
ruffled skirt. The fingertip
length veil of bouffant French
silk illusion was secured to a

carried a nosegay centered
with a white orchid and
surrounded with white daisies
and Wilbur Abbey rosebuds.
Mrs. John Hutchins of
Jackson served as her sister’s
Matron of Honor. She carried a
cascade of bronze and gold
mums, daisies and clusters of
talisman grapes.
Each of the mothers wore
phaelanopsis orchids.
Serving as Mr. Ruff’s best
man was Byron Guess of
Quitman. Ushers were James
Moore of Jackson and Johnny
Blanford of Stockbridge.
Immediately following the
ceremony a reception was
held. Serving as hostess was
Mrs. Evelyn Piper of Barnes
ville and assisting her were
Mrs. Thomas W. Leverrett,
Jr., Mrs. Danny Akers of
Carrollton and Misses Cathy
and Debbie Moore of Jackson.
Miss Deanne Ruff of Charles
ton, S. C., sister of the groom,
kept the Bride’s Book.
After a short wedding trip to
Gatlinburg, Tenn. the newly
weds will reside in Jackson.

shower on October 12th.

Carmichael spent last week at
Jekyll Island and Daytona
Beach, Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Levi J. Ball
were hosts last Thursday at an
early family Thanksgiving
dinner and had as their guests
their children, Mr. and Mrs.
Neil Jordan, Jennifer and
Robert, of Monticello and Bob
Harrison. The occasion was
held in honor of Bob who left
Sunday for Fort Ord, Cali
fornia.
Among those enjoying a long
weekend of golf at Jekyll
Island and football in Jackson
ville, Florida, were Mr. and
Mrs. Lou Moelchert, Mr. and
Mrs. E. D. Briscoe, Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph Carr, Jr., Mr. and
Mrs. M. W. Carmichael, Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Sasser, Mrs.
Margaret S. Carmichael and
Donald Willard. The Jack
sonians were guests at Jekyll
Island during their stay and
attended the Georgia-Florida
game Saturday afternoon at
the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville.
Some went down Wednesday
while others drove down
Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis W. May
have returned home from an
enjoyable visit of several days
with their children, Mr. and
Mrs. Randy Hodges, and
family in Glendale, Missouri.
Enroute back to Jackson Mr.
and Mrs. May returned via
Gatlinburg, Tennessee where
they spent a couple of nights
and enjoyed the Fall foliage.

Mr. G. L. Mask of Holly
Street returned home Wednes
day morning of last week from
the Griffin-Spalding County
Hospital where he had been
hospitalized since the previous
Sunday. His many friends are
glad to see him out for brief
periods though the doctor
limits his activities for at least
60 days.
Mrs. Arthur Sark and
children, Amy and Gregg, of
Orlando, Fla. are spending
some time with her mother,
Mrs. Jessie Mackey, at her
Flovilla home while Mr. Sark is
away on a big game hunting
trip.
Mr. and Mrs. Danny Hoard
and Mr. and Mrs. A1 Jackson
were among those from
Jackson going down to Jack
sonville, Fla. for the Georgia-
Florida game Saturday after
noon at the Gator Bowl.
Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Jones,
Jr. will attend the Georgia-
Auburn game in Athens
Saturday and will visit Mrs. L.
F.Griffeth, mother of Mrs.
Jones, who continues to
recuperate from a broken hip
and arm suffered in a fall at
her home on September 10th.

MIMOSA GARDEN CLUB
HAD PROGRAM ON
VARIOUS AREA TREES
The November meeting of
the Mimosa Garden Club was
held November Bth at the
attractive home of Mrs. Jack
Newman with Mrs. Adeal
Maddox and Mrs. Ralph Carr,
Jr. as co-hostesses.
Refreshments of party sand
wiches, Russian Tea and
cookies were served to the 22
members present. The meeting
was presided over by the club
president, Mrs. John Schroe
der.
Mrs. Ennis O’Neal had
charge of the program on the
subject of “Trees for A
Fabulous Fall.” She presented
Mr. Turner Davis of the
University of Georgia Horti
cultural Research Department
of Griffin. Mr. Davis brought
an informative program and
showed slides of the many
various trees which proved to
be very enjoyable for all.
Mrs. Ruby and Miss Doris
Singley spent last week in
Denver, Colorado, flying up to
attend the National General
Grand Chapter of the Order of
the Eastern Star.
Friends of Mr. A. C. Garr are
glad to learn he has returned
home after being hospitalized
in a Thomaston hospital for two
weeks. Mr. Garr returned
home Monday of last week.
Jed Jinks, student at the
University of Georgia, spent
the weekend with his mother,
Mrs. Eslyn Jinks, and grand
mother, Mrs. W. J. White. He
had as his guest Andy Slocum
of Valdosta.
Mr. and Mrs. Royce O’Dell of
Clayton, Alabama spent the
weekend with Dr. and Mrs.
Tom O’Dell and family.
Dr. and Mrs. Roy Goff and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Raney and family attended a
family get-together at the
home of Mrs. W. H. Goff in
Villa Rica on Sunday. Mr. and
Mrs. James Goff and family of
Norfolk, Virginia were also
present for the enjoyable
occasion. The Goffs from
Virginia stopped in Jackson on
Monday for a visit with the
Goffs and Raneys while
enroute to their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman H.
Harris were visited during the
week by Mr. and Mrs. T. P.
Hutchison of Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Byrd
and children of Jonesboro,
visited with their mother, Mrs.
Lois Byrd, over the weekend.

The Coordinated Vocational
Academic Education (CVAE)
classes at Jackson High School
met last week to organize a
V.O.C.A. Club. The Vocational
Opportunities Clubs of Amer
ica (V.0.C.A.) locally will be
affiliated with the state
V.O.C.A. Club.
Officers elected for the

Harper, last Sunday.

afternoon to visit their grand

To Present
Yule Programs
Barnesville lt’s beginning
to look a lot like Christmas ~
with the Singers.
“Christmas With the Sing
ers,” a concert featuring the
Gordon Junior College Singers,
is scheduled for Nov. 29, 30 and
Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. in Alumni
Memorial Hall on the Gordon
campus.
The concert is divided into
five parts, the first being
sections of the Messiah by
Handel . The second section is a
group of five students singing
madrigals and is called
“Christmas in Williamsburg.”
“The Living Tree” is the title
for the third section, a time to
hear all of the traditional
carols, including Joy To The
World, O Holy Night and Silent
Night. The fourth section is
especially for children, entitled
“The Magic Toybox.” All kinds
of suprises will come from the
toybox - Raggedy Ann, Snow
White and the Candyland
Express.
The final secion of the
concert is “Music For A Snowy
December,” a group of pop
tunes including White Christ
mas, Winter Wonderland,
Carribean Carol and Do You
Hear What I Hear? As always,
the Singers will close their
program with their theme
song, Let There Be Peace on
Earth.
Atlanta Costume Cos. will do
the costumes and Mez-Art
Studio will do the staging.
Tickets are $2 for adults and $1
for students. Gordon students
are admitted free with an I. D.
card.
