Impressive Ceremony Unites
Miss Nancy James And
Charles Washington
Miss Nancy James and
Charles Washington of Jackson
were married at an impressive
three o’clock service Sunday,
November 18th, at the Second
Baptist Church in Jackson,
Georgia.
Rev. A. L. Price performed
the double ring ceremony
before a background of four
seven branch candelabra,
massive fern balls, two fern
trees and the white satin
kfieeling bench.
.The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey W. James
of Jackson. Mr. Washington is
the son of Mrs. Lorell M.
Washington and Mr. Harold
Washington, also of Jackson.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a dress
of imported lutesong of
magnolia color, trimmed with
Alencon lace. It was designed
with empire waistline, a
scooped neck and short
sleeves. The bodice was
overlaid with lace with the
skirt appliqued with matching
lace. A Cathedral length veil of
illusion net was appliqued with
the same lace design and was
attached to a matching cap.
She carried a bouquet of
white pom-poms centered with
a white orchid and tied with
white streamers.
Mrs. Nancy Babcock of
Jackson served as matron of
honor. Bridesmaids were Miss
Renee Smith, Vanessa Singley
and Patty Washington, all of
Jackson. They wore identical
blue chiffon floor length
dresses trimmed at the neck,
sleeves and waist with Ameri
can Beauty roses and moss
green leaves. They wore veils
of blue matching net and
carried nosegays of Better
Times carnations with satin
streamers tied in love knots.
Wesley James, brother of the
bride, served as ring bearer.
Mrs. Dottie McMichael of
Jackson rendered a program of
nuptial music and accompan
ied Mrs. Avery Smith who sang
“We’ve Only Just Begun” and
“The Wedding Prayer.”
Steve Granger served as best
man. Groomsmen were Rod
ney Singley and Harry Reeves
of Jackson and Steve Scott of
Thomaston.
Mrs. James chose for her
daughter’s wedding a light blue
floor length dress with match
ing accessories. The groom’s
mother wore a pink floor length
dress with matching acces
sories. They wore corsages of
cymbidium orchids.
RECEPTION
The reception, hosted by the
bride’s parents, was held in the
fellowship hall immediately
following the wedding.
The refreshment table was
covered with a blue cloth and
matching bridal net tied with
American Beauty rose stream
ers. A seven branch candela
bra with white tapers and blue
net and a massive arrange
ment of Better Times carna
tions, white pom-poms and
greenery graced the table and
complemented the three tier
wedding cake. The cake was
embossed with American
Beauty roses, blue and white
roses and topped with a bride
and groom. Punch, nuts, and
mints were served with the
wedding cake.
Serving were Miss Pam
Greer, Miss Donna Walker,
Miss Debbie Crowder and
Mesdames Melba Walden and
Sue Polk.
The bride’s book was kept by
Mrs. Janice Weldon.
Following the reception the
bride and groom left for a brief
honeymoon trip. For traveling
the bride chose a three piece
blue knit suit with matching
accessories. The white orchid
lifted from her bouquet
completed her attire. The
newlyweds are residing on
Highway 36 in Jackson.

Second Baptist Church Novem
ber 17th at 6:30 o’clock.

MET AT NEW HOME OF

The Magnolia Garden Club
met Thursday, December 6th,
at the lovely new home of Mrs.
Gerald Ross with Dr. Jo Ann
Manley and Mrs. Malvern
Edwards as co-hostesses.
Dr. Jo Ann Manley, presi
dent. presided over the
business session at which time
plans were made for the club to
participate in helping to
finance the Jackson Theater
Guild.
Mrs. Sara Collins, treasurer,
had some lovely Christmas
items on display that the club
has for sale.
Christmas music was the
theme of the program. A
sharing session was also held,
during which time Mrs. Ross
shared the beauty of her home.
During the social hour,
dessert and coffee were served
by the hostesses. The meeting
was closed with a beautiful
Christmas prayer given by
Mrs. Ben Paget.

CHRISTMAS PARTY OF
TOWALIGA GARDEN CLUB
HELD AT WEAVER HOME
The Towaliga Community
Club held its Christmas party
December sth at the home of
Mrs. Sessions Weaver with
Miss Willene Weaver as
co-hostess.
The home was beautifully
decorated with poinsettias,
candles and greenery, carry
ing out the Christmas theme.
The devotional was given by
each member expressing some
personal blessing. Nineteen
members and three visitors
were present with one visitor
adding her name to the
membership roll. A vote was
taken to begin the meeting at
two o’clock during the winter
months.
Mrs. Myra Smith led the
group in several games, adding
much joy to the beginning of
the Christmas season.
Each member brought a gift
to be given Mrs. Beth Hearn
who in turn will present each
pupil of the Day Care Center a
present the last day of school
before Christmas. A game was
enjoyed as Christmas gifts
were exchanged.
During the social hour
delicious Christmas cookies,
candies, nuts and tidbits were
enjoyed along with coffee and
grape juice.
The January meeting will be
at the home of Mrs. Lamar
Weaver on January 9th.

Tuesday, November 27th, at
her home on the Atlanta
Highway.
The dining table was graced
with a lovely arrangement of
Talisman roses, daisies, and
carnations with a color scheme
of yellow and green carried
out. Assorted sandwiches,
cakes, mints, nuts and punch
were served the twenty guests.
Several games were enjoyed
after which the honoree opened
her lovely gifts which were
viewed by those present.
JEPHTA CHAPTER TO
HAVE CHRISTMAS PARTY
Jephta Chapter No. 252, OES,
will hold their regular meeting
on Friday night, December
14th, at eight o’clock. This will
be the Christmas party. Gifts
will be exchanged and the
ladies will wear long dresses.

commencement program at
Georgia Tech. Among the

their great-nephew, Walter Lee

neering Degree, graduating
with highest honors. He is the
son of Mrs. Betty Lee Christian
of Richmond, Va. and they*
have many friends in Jackson
who are extending congratula
tions to Mr. Christian upon his
graduation with highest

for the wonderful letters and
cards you sent me through the
year. People like you and
friends make me realize how
good the Lord has been to me
and how many blessings He
has given me through you.
As I lay here in my bed
reading the wonderful cards
and letters, I want to send a
Merry Christmas and a Happy,
Healthy New Year greeting to
all of you and I hope God will
keep you in His love and care
through all the new year.
Thanks again for all the fruit,
flowers, trays of food and the
vegetables when I was home
