Mr. Asa Maddox returned on
Monday from Macon Medical
Center after having surgery on
his hand the previous week. He
is doing nicely we are happy to
report.
Mrs. Spencer Johnson spent
last week in Marietta with her
sister, Mrs. John R. King, and
her mother, Mrs. Maebelle
Brooks.
Mrs. B. T. McMichael had as
weekend guests Mrs. Miriam
White and Jeannine from
McDonough, Mr. and Mrs. Bob
McMichael and Mrs. Eula
Cromer from Anderson, S. C.
Mrs. McMichaels’s Sunday
guests were Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
Brown from Macon, Mrs.
Frank Ogletree from Cork, Mr.
and Mrs. W. H. Brown of
Forsyth and Mr. and Mrs.
Hiram Doster from Huntsville,
Ala.
Mr. and Mrs. Joel Crane had
as their weekend guests
Jeannine and Chuck Fitzgerald
from Macon, Russell Crane
from Macon. On Saturday Mrs.
Crane, Jeannine Fitzgeralnd
and Mrs. Salli Hoard went
shopping in Griffin. The
Crane’s guests Sunday were
Mr. and Mrs. Danny Hoard and
Barrett and Steve Fletcher of
Locust Grove.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hoard had
as their visitors Sunday
afternoon Mr. and Mrs. George
Treadwell.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Holloway
had as their guests Saturday
Mr. Holloway’s mother, Mrs.
R. L. Holloway, and his sister
and husband, Mr. and Mrs.
James Darden, of Forsyth.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Holloway
visited Mrs. Holloway’s aunt,
Mrs. Roxie Reeves, in College
Park.
Mrs. A. O. Allen’s sister,
Mrs. . Lucille Hudgins, of
Chattanooga, Tenn., is visiting
a few days. Mr. Allen is doing
nicely, sitting up in his wheel
chair for long periods at a time.
This reporter’s and Mr.
Grier’s son, Richard Grier,
was admitted to the hospital on
Monday to be placed in traction
and undergo tests. Our
thoughts and prayers are with
you, Richard. We love you.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Darrow
spent several days last week
with their daughter and family,
Rev. and Mrs. Dale Jacks, in
Jasper, Alabama.

weeks.

United Appeal
Drive Is
Just Short
Final report on the 1973-74
United Appeal drive for Butts
County was made this week by
Dick O’Hara, president of the
drive.
“We were aiming for
$15,000,” Mr. O’Hara said,
“and we fell a trifle short with
a final total of $14,512, but there
are still a few businesses left to
report.”
“I feel the drive was a great
success considering the
times,” Mr. O’Hara stated. “I
just want to thank all the
mightly fine people who
worked so hard to make the
drive a success.”
Final figures on the various
divisions are as follows.
Industry, Hal Summers,
chairman: $7,452. Broken into
various companies, this
figure is accounted for by
American Mills: $1,350; Avon
dale Mills: $3,600; Addison-
Rudesal, Inc.: $1,100; Fashion
Pillows: $900; Kym Cos.: SSOO.
“We were really pleased by
the fine turnout of employee
participation,” Mr. O’Hara
said. “We think they did a
terrific job.”
Business, Hugh Glidewell
and Byrd Garland, chairmen:
$2,958.
Butts County Public Schools,
Mrs. Margaret McCormick,
chairman: $956. Broken into
the various schools: Jackson
Primary contributed $440;
Henderson Elementary, SSO;
Henderson Junior High, $262;
and Jackson High, S2OO. “I was
most pleased and impressed
with the excellent cooperation I
got from the school personnel
