received by the undersigned at
the General Office of the
Department of Transportation,
2 Capitol Square, Atlanta,
Georgia, 30334, until 11:00
a.m., January 11, 1974 and
publicly opened for furnishing
all labor, material, equipment
and other things necessary for
the following work:

Plans and specification may
be inspected at the General
Offices in Atlanta, the District
Office indicated, and at the
office of the Board of
Commissioners of Roads and
Revenue of the county (ies) in
which the work is located.
Copies of the Standard Specifi
cations ($4.00), the proposal
form ($5.00) and the plans
(indicated price) may be
obtained from the State
Transportation Office Engi
neer at the General Office in
Atlanta. Payment of the
correct amount must accom
pany each order; such pay
ments will not be refunded.
Proposals will not be issued
after 9:00 a.m. on the date of
bid openings. Notices to
Contractors which include
items and quantities are
available upon payment of
$12.00 annually to cover
postage.
Proposals must be submitted
on the proposal form issued by
the Department. Each pro
posal submitted must be
accompanied by a proposal
guaranty in the indicated
amount in the form of a
Certified Check, Cashier’s
Check or Bid or Proposal Bond
on a form issued by the
Department or the Georgia
Highway Authority.
In accordance with the
Standard Specifications, the
time set for receiving bid
proposals terminates at 11:00
a.m. at Room 234 in the State
Highway Building. The bid
proposals will then be trans
ferred to Room 401 where they
will be publicly opened. Bid
proposals will not be received
after 11:00 a.m. Bid proposals
may be withdrawn by the
bidder from Room 234 prior to
11:00 a.m. but cannot be
withdrawn after 11:00 a.m. A
withdrawn bid proposal may
again be received in Room 234
prior to 11:00 a.m.
Acceptance of an offer
submitted by the bid proposals
will be given in writing within
thirty days after the opening of
the bid unless a longer period is
specified in the Proposal or
agreed upon by the successful
bidder. Offers of bidders who
do not hold a current
Certificate of Qualification, H.
D. Form 482, will not be
accepted unless prequalifica
tion requirements are specifi
cally waived for this work.
Work will be governed by the
applicable edition of Standard
Specifications as amended by
the contract provisions. Con
tract time will be as indicated.
Payment will be made to the
contractor each calendar
month based on the estimated
work complete in place as
prescribed by the Standard
Specifications. Retainage as
prescribed by the Standard
Specifications will be withheld
or placed in escrow accounts at
the option of the Contractor.
Final payment of amounts
withheld or deposited in escrow
will not be made until the State
Highway Engineer has certi
fied that the work has been
satisfactorily completed and
accepted.
Projects financed with Fed
eral funds will contain provi
sions with regard to minimum
wages, employment of labor,
methods of construction, and
subletting or assigning the
contract. On such projects, the
Department hereby notifies all
bidders that it will affirma
tively insure that, in any
contract entered into pursuant
to this advertisement, minority
business enterprises will be
afforded full opportunity to
submit bids in response to this
invitation and will not be
discriminated against on the
grounds of race, color, or
national origin in consideration
for an award.
Any Federally financed work
located within the counties of
Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Clayton
and Gwinnett, the estimated
cost of which exceeds $500,000,
will be subject to the
requirements of the Atlanta
Plan. Requirements of the
Atlanta Plan will be included in
the contract special provisions
where applicable. Copies of the
Atlanta Plan are available
from the same source as plans
and proposals.
Projects financed solely with
state or authority bond funds
will contain H. R. Resolution 34
requiring use of domestic
materials.
This advertisement is mere
ly an invitation for the
submission of bids which are to
be considered as offers for
performance of work by the
submitting party. The State
reserves the right to reject any
or all bids.

tanff with the Georgia Public Ser
vice Commission called the Georgia
Loral Distribution Facilities for
Other Common Carriers. This 'ariff
was developed to provide Local Dis
tribution Facilities of a Private Line
Type to Interstate Specialized Com
mon Carriers utilizing their own
microwave and/or cable routes. A
copy of this tariff in D-2576-U is on
file in the Commission's Offices for
the inspection of any interested
parties.
This matter has been assigned
for hearing before the Commission
beginning at 10:00 AM. on Janu
ary 9, 1974, in the Commission's
Hearing Room, 177 State Office
Building, 244 Washington Street,
S.W., Atlanta, Georgia, at which
time all persons interested in this
matter will be given an opportunity
of being heard either for or against
the approval of said tariff.

tion of the Georgia Public Service
Commission.

of his death Sunday, December
16th. He was the father of Mrs.
Mike Morgan who taught
school here along with her
husband. He was also the
brother-in-law’ of Merrell Price
and a nephew of the late W’alter
Moore. Funeral services were
conducted December 18th in
McDonough from Carmichael
Chapel with burial in the
McDonough City Cemetery.
Friends of P. H. Weaver,
prominent Jackson business
and civic leader, regret to
learn that he was hospitalized
Thursday at Middle Georgia
Hospital with an attack of
lumbago that was first thought
to be kidney stones. He was
expected to return home before
Christmas.
