0. K. friends, I hope we’re
still friends after throwing that
article at you last week, so how
did it strike you? Catch it,
folks? I sincerely hope each of
you enjoyed reading it as much
as I enjoyed writing it, or
should I say trying to write it?
Anyway, as the old saying
goes, that’s water down the
creek, or was that over the
dam; Oh, well, whatever!
This week I certainly have
something quite important to
discuss with the men of Butts.
Now, ladies don’t be offended,
there’s no secret, you are
allowed to read it too, although
I seriously doubt that any of
you will have to. You see, I
want to discuss that all
important day, Valentine’s.
All right now fellows, all you
devoted husbands and boy
friends, this is the time to sit
up and take your mind off of
business and what not and just
take due notice to your wives
and girl friends. That’s it, it’s
Valentine’s Day on February
14th, so when you see that red
circle on the calendar you’ll
know what it is. Don’t be some
kind of an idiot and ask, “Hey,
Honey what’s the 14th circled
for”; that will just spoil it
a11... you’re supposed to
know. So be smart and
remember that special day. I
can tell you that if Terry
forgets it he’ll be SORRY. Hint
Hint Terry.
Listen now, in all serious
ness, just think of all those
days when you’ve come home
in a bad mood, those delicious
meals that she has put on the
table, times when you’ve
fussed and fumed without
reason, and when a “thank
you” or maybe even “I love
you” was called for, and you
made hardly a gesture. Yeah,
that’s right she has probably
been pretty good all this time.
Sure, she complains, she has
her bad days just like you,
that’s just human nature.
Nobody is that much of a saint.
Don’t you think she deserves a
card or a box of candy if she
has really been extra special.
Just think, you’re probably
kind of special to her.
Now, that’s Thursday, Feb
ruary 14th, Valentine’s Day.
That card or box of candy and
maybe even, I LOVE YOU, will
mean a lot. Just think. Drop a
hint, you might even get a
surprise that special day ... I
know my husband certainly
will.
Scout Cookie
Sale Begins
February Bth
The 1974 Pine Valley Girl
Scout Cookie Sale will get
underway on February 8, and
continue thru February 23,
Mrs. Vivian Street, cookie
chairman, announced today.
Again this year, Girl Scouts
in Jackson will be selling the
large Family size box for SI.OO
in the flavors you’ve been
waiting for: mint, peanut
butter, assorted sandwich,
butter flavored shorties and
chocolate chip. The latter will
be an improved version of the
pecanette cookie.
Mrs. John T. Grissom,
Council Cookie Chairman, met
with Jackson cookie chairman
on January 10, to distribute
troop sale materials.
Girl Scouts care and once a
year they sell cookies as a
service to their own organiza
tion. They give up their free
time in cold, windy, wet
weather to help provide for
themselves and their Sister
Scouts, camping facilities,
wider opportunities for travel
and new experiences and to
earn money for their own troop
projects.
The 3,264 members of Pine
Valley Council see the needs
and are willing to work hard to
meet them.
