WHO IS AGAINST US?
Romans 8:31 “What shall
we then say to these things?
If God be for us, who can be
against us?
On the surface this verse is
easily accepted and felt to, be
a worthy maxim. In reality
when we feel we are being
taken advantage of, our
feeling changes. Most of us
want others to think good of
us. If we do not have this
assurance, then we begin to
worry about ourselves. To
combat what others think of
us, it is a good idea to explore
what we feel about ourselves.
If we have healthy feelings
about ourselves and can
accept the fact that we are
not perfect and make
mistakes, then it stands to
reason that we have a fair
grasp of who we are. On the
other hand, if we feel we are
perfect and cannot tolerate
imperfection then we have
set ourselves up to be
miserable with ourselves and
others, including God. He
who feels himself perfect
needs no God or anyone else.
I have an idea that God can
tolerate us in our imperfec
tions. In spite of ourselves,
God loves us. When we are
angry God loves us. When we
are jealous God loves us.
When we turn our back to
God, He continues to love us.
GOD IS FOR US. This fact is
hard for us to accept,
because most of us seeming
ly accept the fact that we can
only work for the grace of
God. If I do this and that,
then God will love me.
However, if we believe this,
then we have missed the
whole point of God’s love.
But, I guess if we feel we can
buy everything else then we
can buy God’s love too.
Hopefully, we will accept
the fact that God is for us and
then maybe we will discover
that when we quit trying to
Buy or work for salvation, we
will have time to share our
gift of love from God with
ourselves and others.
