Kiwanians
Learn Of
Estate Plans
Members of the Jackson
Kiwanis Club learned first
hand Tuesday night, June
11th, about wills and estate
planning from a man who
ought to know, Harry V.
Lamon, distinguished At
lanta tax attorney who has
argued cases before the U. S.
Supreme Court. Mr. Lamon
is also President of the
Atlanta Kiwanis Club. He
was presented by Richard W.
Watkins, Jackson attorney.
The speaker’s remarks
concerned primarily estate
planning and business finan
cing. He admonished his
fellow Kiwanians of the
importance of making a will
which could do much to
determine how a person’s
property would be divided at
the time of his death.
In fact, Mr. Lamon said,
there were only two groups of
people who should not
prepare a will the first
group are those who are
broke and destitute and the
second group are those who
are considered to be financial
wizards. Mr. Lamon said
that he had known a lot of
people who were broke but
had never met anyone he
could classify as a financial
wizard.
Mr. Lamon continued his
interesting and instructive
talk with the observation that
“In light of the complex tax
structure of our country, all
citizens should consult a
qualified attorney regarding
their financial planning."
