the 13th annual Natural
Resources Conservation
Workshop at Abraham Bald
win Agricultural College in
Tifton last week, according
to an announcement made by
Shorty Garrison, District
Conservationist, Soil Conser
vation Service, Griffin.
This Workshop is an annual
educational activity sponsor
ed jointly by Georgia
Chapter, Soil Conservation
Society of America and the
Georgia Association of Soil
and Water Conservation
District Supervisors.
230 boys and 50 girls from
140 counties participated in
this year’s workshop. Ap
proximately SBOO in prizes
were awarded to outstanding
students. First place award
of the Workshop was a $330
college scholarship and a
camera.
The sponsors for those
attending from Butts County
were the Production Credit
Association, Citizens and
Southern Bank of Jackson,
and Mclntosh State Bank.

Henry of Jackson, and
Tommy Eidson is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eidson of
Jackson.

Mr. T. T. Scott of Miami,
Florida, a guest at the Elder
Hotel, celebrated his 87th
birthday on Sunday by
having 34 for dinner. He had
a lovely cake and it was a
happy occasion. Mr. Scott
has been coming to the Elder
Hotel since the early days of
the hotel.
Mrs. John W. Webb and
this reporter attended the
Flovilla United Methodist
Women’s meeting at the
home of Mrs. Minnie Carlock
last Wednesday. There were
eleven members and three
guests present. Delicious
cake and punch were served.
Mrs. Carlock lives at the
Holiness Camp Grounds.
Mr. and Mrs. Joel Crane
had as their weekend guests
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Crane
and children from Warner
Robins and Bozo Crane of
Macon. Their Sunday guests

her two nieces, Betty and
Laurie Tingle, of Forsyth
visiting her last week.
Mr. Asa Maddox’s sister,
Mrs. Alton Bland, of Vidalia
is in Macon Coliseum in the
intensive care unit. She has
been there for a week in
critical condition. Our pray
ers are with Mrs. Bland.

Jeff Coleman was a guest
of his grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. John Coleman, last
week. They are also catsit
ting with Jennifer and David
Garr’s 15 year old Siamese
cat, while they are away on
vacation.

Friends of Mrs. Clifford
Bond will be interested to
learn that she is resting
comfortably at her home
after being hospitalized at
Clayton General Hospital.
She suffered injuries during
a fall recently.
Miss Debby Fears and Dan
Fears. Jr. left Friday, June
14th. to spend a few days in
Panama City, Florida.

Frank" Goff
Dies In
Jacksonville
Mr. Frank Goff of Jackson
ville, Florida died late
Friday, June 14th, of a heart
attack.
Mr. Goff was a brother of
Dr. Roy Goff, Jack Goff and
Mrs. Fred Raney, all of
Jackson.
Funeral services were held
Monday in Jacksonville.
Members of the family were
in Florida and additional
details were unavailable.
