TOWALIGA COMMUNITY
CLUB MET AT HOME
OF MRS. WEAVER
The regular monthly meet
ing of the Towaliga Com
munity Club was held at the
home of Mrs. W. S. Weaver
June 12th at 2:30 o’clock with
Miss Willene Weaver as
co-hostess.
The home was decorated
with glads and other spring
flowers.
The president, Mrs. Lynn
Shadrix, welcomed 16 mem
bers and one visitor present.
Mrs. Lamar Weaver gave
an inspiring devotional on the
word WALK giving
scriptures on walk in the
LIGHT, walk the straight
WAY, walk in LOVE, walk in
REVERENCE, showing in
ways we can carry out the
messages in our daily lives.
Minutes were read and
approved by the secretary,
Mrs. Charles Brownlee. A
nice treasurer’s report was
given.
Several get well cards
were signed to the ones on the
sick list.
Plans were discussed on
having a community booth
several days during the week
of the 149th year celebration
of Butts County. Mrs. Eugene
Parrish Sr. was appointed
chairman.
Mrs. Weaver welcomed
Miss Eilene Findley, county
extension agent. She gra
ciously gave the club tips on
nutrition, showing foods that
our bodies need in everyday
living and resisting diseases.
Several craft ideas were
shown. During the social
hour, the hostesses served
delicious chicken salad,
crackers, nuts, old-fashion
pound cake and tea.

Milledgeville, spent Father’s
Day weekend in Aiken, S. C.
with Dr. and Mrs. Charles
McGahee.

Decatur spent last week and
a part of this week with their
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
C. D. Edwards, Jr.
Sunday dinner guests of
Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Peters,
Mike and Ruth were Mr. and
Mrs. Herschel Waits and
Robbie, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby
Stephens, Leigh Ann and
Leslie. Visiting in the
afternoon were Mr. and Mrs.
Herman Waits, Rivers and
Joseph Waits.
Friends of Mrs. Alton
Bland of Vidalia regret to
learn she is a patient at
Coliseum Park Hospital in
Macon where she underwent
surgery Tuesday of last
week. Mrs. Bland is the sister
of Mrs. Bertha Perdue and
Asa Maddox of Indian
Springs.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Taylor,
Robin Taylor, and Renee
Mayfield flew to New
Orleans, La. last Thursday
night and joined Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Floyd and Mr.
and Mrs. David Floyd who
motored to New Orleans. The
entire group returned home
Sunday by auto.
Mrs. A. G. King left via
plane June 2nd to visit her
niece, Mrs. O. R. Tilghman,
and family in New Bern,
North Carolina. She visited
for two weeks and toured
other points of interest in
North Carolina. Mrs. King
returned home Friday, June
14th.
Those visiting with the N.
O. Yorks last week were Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest York of
Locust Grove, Mr. and Mrs.
Jimmie Faulkner and sons,
Ricky and- Ronnie, of
Mableton.

Mr. and Mrs. Rogers Starr
were Sunday guests of their
daughters, Misses Ellen and
Patricia Starr, of Atlanta.
THOMAS REUNION WAS
AN ENJOYABLE EVENT
A host of relatives gather
ed together at Indian Springs
State Park on Sunday, June
9th, for the annual Thomas
reunion.
Many present had not been
in several years. The
fellowship was fine and the
abundance of delicious
viands tickled the palate.
Barbecue, salads, cakes,
and “you name it” with
lemonade and tea ladened
the tables. The parting words
were “see you next year.”

heart attack from which she
succumbed shortly after
wards at a Macon hospital.

were Dr. and Mrs. G. N.
Etheredge, Jr., Mandy and
Jenny of Charlotte, North
Carolina. Mandy returned
home with her parents after
visiting three weeks with her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
G. N. Etheredge.
The family enjoyed a
delicious fish fry at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Brand
Saturday night. Everyone
enjoyed fish with all the
trimmings.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Fears
and Bill attended commence
ment exercises Wednesday,
June 12th, at the University
of Georgia in Athens. Miss
Fears received her Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree.
Spending the weekend in
Atlanta were Mrs. Ed
Smalley and Mr. and Mrs. C.
T. Whiten. They were guests
of Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Hodges
of Smyrna and attended the
wedding of Mrs. Smalley’s
grandson, Ed Smalley, 111.

after spending several weeks

Both mother and son are
doing fine. Mrs. Brown is

Progress-Argus and writes
