conserve natural resources.
(q) To build and repair the
public bridges and buildings.
(r) To provide for reasonable
reserves for public improve
ments as may be fixed by
law.
(s) To provide medical or
other care and hospitaliza
tion of the indigent sick.
(t) Provide insurance, re
tirement, and pension bene
fits, coverage under Federal
Old Age and Survivors
Insurance programs, hospi
talization benefits and
workman’s compensation
benefits for its officers and
employees, their dependents
and survivors.
(u) Acquire, construct,
maintain, improve, or aid in
the acquisition, construction,
maintenance or improve
ment of public buildings,
bridges, county roads, parks,
public libraries, and other
properties for public use;
and to acquire real property,
or any interest therein to
carry out the foregoing as
provided by law; and, to
furnish all necessary sup
plies, office supplies, office
iixlurcs. stationary, stamps,
telephones, utilities, dockets,
ledgers. motor vehicles,
automobiles, trucks, road
machinery and equipment,
and any other item or article
of pro|XTly in connection
with till' foregoing.
(v) To provide Ambulance
Service to the citizens of
Bulls County and pay for the
same as provided by law.

Fire Protection to the rural
areas of Bulls County and

weeks. Mrs. Berry’s daugh
ter, Mrs. Carolyn Brown and
Ann, and Cathy Stanik,
brought Mrs. Berry to
Jackson on Wednesday, and
spent the day before return
ing.
Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Towner
had their grandson, Mike
Cannon, of Atlanta as a
visitor last week. His
parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Cannon, visited on
Saturday and then returned
home with Mike on Saturday
evening. On Tuesday, Mr.
and Mrs. B. F. Mann and
Mark, of Riverdale, visited
with the Towners.
Mrs. Alton P. Long was
visited by her sister, Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Hayden and
children, of Glen Burnie, Md.
for several days last week.
Mrs. Margaret Carmichael
and Mrs. M. E. Wade have
returned from an enjoyable
trip, flying to Las Vegas and
visiting with Mr. and Mrs.
Victor Carmichael, Jr., and
then flew on to Honolulu,
Hawaii. While in Hawaii,
they flew to Maui and visited
with Mrs. Dorothy Mitchell.
Mrs. Wade also visited the
island of Hawaii.
Miss Ethel Webb, who
recently underwent surgery
at Piedmont Hospital in
Atlanta, was transferred to
Sylvan Grove Hospital Wed
nesday of last week, her
many friends will be inter
ested to know. Mrs. Robert
Grier of Indian Springs was
in Atlanta with her aunt
during her hospitalization*
there.
Friends of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Long, formerly of
Fayetteville, will be inter
ested to know they recently
moved to Locust Grove.
Mrs. Frances James vis
ited during the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry James
and children in Atlanta.

of the critical illness of Mrs.
Jones’ brother, Mr. E. M.
Pope, Jr. at the Living
Center of Griffin. Mr. Pope,
already a patient at the
Griffin facility, suffered a
stroke last week.

Panama City, Fla., are Mr.
and Mrs. Albert Smith and

Gibson, Prissy and Ronnie
Wells, Mrs. Nora Wells,
Davis and Diane.

Mrs. David Mitchell and
Mrs. Keith Goode, of Macon,
were supper guests of Mrs.
Mitchell’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. C. L. Ridgway, last
Wedneday night.
Second Lt. Kenneth F.
Barnes will be leaving on
September 15th for Wright-
Patterson Air Force Base in
Dayton, Ohio. Lt. Barnes is
the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Barnes.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie
McMullin have just returned
from Panama City, Fla. after
vacationing for several days.

and Mrs. Barfield's daugh

Wednesday. S.Sgt. Barfield
and family left Jackson on
Friday for Sacramento.
Calif., where he will be
stationed.
