WORTHVILLE

Mrs. J. H. Pope returned
home Sunday after spending
a week with her brother and
his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin
O’Neal in Forest Park, and
her daughter, Mrs. Robert
Wilson, Mr. Wilson and
Bobby, in Decatur. Mrs.
Pope greatly enjoyed the
inspirational services at
Rainbow Park Baptist
Church in Decatur, Sunday.
Miss Janet Washington and
her guest, Miss Dawn
Stinson, spent Friday night
and Saturday with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. A.
Washington. Janet and Dawn
are both students at Georgia
Baptist School of Nursing in
Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley
Washington and Alan had as
weekend guests their sister,
Linda Hearn of Hampton.
They returned Linda home,
following morning worship
and were dinner guests of
their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Hearn and family at
their home in Hampton.
Mrs. Bobby Sealey was
injured in an auto accident
near Tussahaw Creek Bridge
in Worthville last Tuesday
and spent three days in
Sylvan Grove Hospital. We
are happy that she is home
and doing fine.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Sealey
and Mrs. Martha Sealey
visited Mr. Claude Sealey in
the V.A. Hospital in Mil
ledgeville Friday and report
him seemingly slightly im
proved. We wish him
continued improvement.
Mr. and Mrs. Stacer
Washington visited his mo
ther, Mrs. Ermine Washing
ton, in Hilltop Home near
Forsyth Sunday afternoon.
They also visited her mother,
Mrs. Mary Bohannon, and
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Adams
of Jackson. They report both
Mrs. Washington and Mrs.
Bohannon as getting along
nicely.
Mrs. Nellie Cochran spent
two days last week with her
granddaughter and family,
Mr. and Mrs. David Burford
and Carin of Flovilla.
Guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Jake Mason Sunday were
Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Maddox
of Atlanta. Mr. Jake was on
our sick list last week, but we
are happy to report that he is
back to normal, and we wish
him continued good health.
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton
O’Neal of Alcovy Shores
visited their sister, Mrs.
Minnie Lee Hodges Saturday
evening. Sunday afternoon
guests were Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Wilkerson and Mr. John
O’Neal, all of Stark Commu
nity, and Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Knowles of Fincher
ville. Another guest last
Tuesday was Mrs. Tom
Collins of Decatur.
Mr. and Mrs. Eddy
Johnston visited his mother
and brother, Mrs. Lois
Johnston and Randy John
ston of Forsyth Sunday
afternoon. They also called
on Mr. H. 0. Smith in Forsyth
Hospital.

Long Hospital in Atlanta, and
Rhonda Gay is also a student
in an Atlanta school.

during morning worship
Sunday. There were 15 young
men present with their
leaders, and four of the group
served as ushers. Leaders of
these fine young men are
Messrs. Clyde Parker, Earl
Hurst, and Ray Polk, and
they are doing a wonderful
job.

evening workship services at
Worthville Baptist Church,
Mrs. Earl Hurst was com

Monday Night
Mr. William Clayton Garr,
84. of Rt. 5, Jackson, one of
Butts County’s best-known
citizens, died Monday night
at Sylvan Grove Hospital fol
lowing a short illness but a
longer period of declining
health.
Mr. Garr was born June 6,
1890, in Monroe County, the
son of the late Mr. W. J. Garr
and the late Mrs. Missouri

Mr. Garr was a retired
merchant, cattleman, and
farmer and was widely
known in his community. Mr.

Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday morning at 11:00
in the chapel of Haisten
Funeral Home with the Rev.
Frank Smith, pastor of
Pleasant Grove Congrega
tional Methodist Church, and
Rev. John Cross officiating.
Interment was in Jackson

grandchildren.
