Minuteman Meeting Is Widely Attended Ecology, inflation, and conservation as they affect the operation of electrical utilities in the U.S., were the topics for discussion at the Central Georgia EMC meet ing and dinner last Thursday night. January 9th. Franklin Rogers, guest speaker for the Minuteman dinner, presented the indus try's picture of the above problems. Since the cost of borrowing money and purchasing oil and coal for fuel have increased fourfold, we can expect the cost of electricity to increase four times over what it was four years ago, he said. Likewise, if the industry is to meet more stringent ecological demands, the public will have to be prepared to pay the price, he said. Mr. Rogers, a rate consul tant for Southern Engineer ing Company of Georgia, charged that the average household spends more mo ney on alcohol than electrici ty. For the convenience provided to them, he said he does not expect consumers to cut back production drasti cally. (He said the average American family spends two percent of its income for electricity). Money-Saving Fact # 3 THE LATE NIGHT RATE This very special rate is in effect from 11 P.M. till 8 A.M. every night of the week and is lower than the evening rate. You can dial direct anywhere in the whole country (except Alaska and Hawaii) for 3 minutes for just 75C or less, plus tax. A special feature of the Late Night Rate is the “Mighty Minute." You can talk for one minute and it will never cost more than 35C plus tax. Share a smile. Dial Long Distance tonight. (£1) Southern Bell tatives Benson Ham of District 80 and J. R. Some say that she was actually closer to tears! It is centuries since Leonardo and his model lived, but throngs still stand before the painting in the Louvre and wonder at it. It is much smaller than people expect, but that in no way diminishes its attraction. For the Mona Lisa symbolizes the mystery of life. No matter how great our curiosity, we can never know all the answers. There is a great deal of mystery in the Church too. Often this bothers those who would seek a logical explana tion for everything. That is where we need faith—for faith is, in part, an acceptance of what we inherently feel but can’t prove in ordinary, everyday terms. Where to find faith? Admittedly, it can be quite a quest. But a good place to start that quest is in church. UNION RIDGE CHRISTIAN Rev.
