Its A Womans World
TV Spoof Decla res
By Cindy S. Brown
Channel 2 presented a 3
hour special on Thursday
night, January 9, entitled
Women and Men. The
program was a study on
women’s place in today’s
society and ran the gamut
from women in sports to
divorce and liberation. Pre
senting a spoof on Adam and
Eve, a feature on a
promiscuous single gal, and
an interview with a couple in
the process of “phasing out”
their marriage, this program
answered a lot of questions
for a lot of people.
Liberation is an interesting
topic to many people,
whether they believe in all its
facets or not. Programmed
to tell it like it is, this
particular broadcast empha
sized the fact that women are
intelligent beings who de
serve an equal place with
their male counterparts in
job competition.
Bennie and I watched the
telecast and he even
commented that it was a
good show. That surprised
'me greatly as my husband is
a fair-minded person, but he
feels as I do, that some facets
of the lib movement are too
''extreme.
One of the main points
women seem to be trying to
bring out is that there’s
nothing at all wrong with
women “sleeping around”
after all, they say, single
guys (and some married
ones) do it all the time.
Baloney. The good Lord
didn’t intend for any of us to
be totally promiscuous,
much less spightfully so. And
that includes the male and
female of the species.
Women who are capable of
doing the same job as a man,
do deserve equal pay. They
DO NOT deserve equal pay if
tofty are not capable of doing
a man’s job well. Just being
female doesn’t qualify any
one for special privileges, no
, more than just being of the
masculine gender does.
It seems to me that many
women are screaming for the
• same rights as men, but are
not willing to accept the
responsibilities which go
along with the game plan.
Some want a divorce to seek
newfound freedom, but they
“just don’t understand why
they should be willing” to
give hubby custody of the
children. If the gals want

shelf tags on many frequently purchased items with
the day of the price increase right on the tag. Of
course, the Aware List won’t include perishables
