caused by the resignation of

Mr. and Mrs. Gene
Milchell proudly announce
the birth of an eight and one
quarter pound daughter at
Griffin Hospital on Saturday
morning, January 18th. The
little lady has been given the
name Frances Shellene.
Mother and baby are fine and
are expected to come home
early in the week.
Group 2 of Macedonia
W.M.S. met with Mrs. Bessie
Cawthon on Monday after
noon, January 13th. A study
of missions in the New
England states was presen
ted by members of the group.
Mrs. Cawthon served .re
freshments after the conclu
sion of the program.
Mr. W. L. White was a
visitor to Griffin Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Long
and Steve, Jr., of Jackson l
ville, Fla., were weekend
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Mangham.
Mr. and Mrs. Buck Hoard

visited Mrs. Annie Maude
Swint in Rex on Sunday
afternoon.
Andy Crumbley is expec
ted to return to Colorado this
week and enter the hospital
there for further treatment.
His many friends are hoping
that his condition will be
greatly improved from this
latest treatment.
Miss Lunette Kitchens of
Atlanta is visiting her sister,
Mrs. Madge Holifield.
Rev. and Mrs. James
McKeithen of Lakeland, Fla.,
were guests of Rev. and Mrs.
R. W. Jenkins during the
weekend. Rev. McKeithen
preached in the weekend
revival at Macedonia
Church. There was a fine
attendance at all the ser
vices, reaching a record
attendance of 229 in Sunday
School on Sunday morning.
Fine singing, under the
capable leadership of choir
director Rev. Bill Whitlatch,
was an outstanding feature of
the series of services.

Children’s Day
The Kimbell Baptist Asso
ciation has set January 26th
as Georgia Baptist Chil
dren’s Home Emphasis Day.
On this day representatives
from the Children’s Home
will speak in various chur
ches throughout the Associa
tion to better acquaint the
churches with the ministries
carried on at the home.
Last year the Children’s
Home cared for more than
500 children, offering custo
dial care, education and
counseling services. These
services were offered at
Baxley, Means ville, Palmet
to, Savannah, and in 25 foster 1
homes.

of Mrs. Sisson’s birthday.

visited Mrs. Lois Kimbell in
McDonough on Wednesday of
last week.

Kirk Biles. Mr. Biles was
reared in the Stark Commu
nity, and he and Mrs. Biles

NOTICE TO
HOME-OWNERS
Several changes have been made in the home
stead exemption laws which might affect you. Please
read this and if you do not undersand contact me or
one of my assistants. Do this as soon as possible.
1 - If you are 65 years old or older and the income
of you and your spouse does not exceed $4000.00, you
will be entitled to $4000.00 exemption instead of the
regular exemption of $2000.00. DO NOT count Social
Security or private retirement, disability or pension sys
tem.
2 - If yoy. are 62 years of age and the gross income
of you and your spouse or any and all members of the
family residing within the homestead for the 1974 cal
endar year shall not exceed $6000.00, you DO count
Social Security, pensions, retirement, any and all in
come. If you qualify under this law you will be entitled
up to but not to exceed $10,000.00 of the assessed valu
ation of your homestead on your school tax only.
3- If you have built anew home in 1974 you must
come in and apply for the regular exemption which is
$2000.00 if you do not qualify for either of the above
or if you have a mobile home and own the ground it is
sitting on you will be entitled to homestead exemption.
Please come in as soon as possible and make ap
plication for whichever exemption you are qualified.
