_M WORKING
GAL’S
NERIA By Cindy S. Brown

MRS. CHARLOTTE B. WEAVER
Our working gal for this
week is Mrs. Charlotte B.
Weaver, secretary for Weav
er Insurance Agency.
Mrs. Weaver is a delightful
and competent lady, one who
enjoys her work. She stated
that even in this time of
recession, the insurance
business is a good one to be
in. More people than ever
before are increasing their
life insurance and home
owner policies. Another
factor making for good
business, according to Mrs.
Weaver, is the new auto
insurance law.
Although this week’s gal
has held several other
positions since her gradua
tion from business school,
she states firmly that the
insurance company business
is her favorite. Mrs. Weaver
made the comment that the
only regret she has as to
working full time now, is that
there isn’t much time left
over to spend with her four
grandchildren. Mrs. Weav
er’s employer, Mr. Pliny
Weaver, is her brother-in
law; and this is not the end of
a family affair as Mrs.
Weaver’s son, Luke is also in
the same office! When asked
if a family business ever
presents problems as such,
Mrs. Weaver laughingly
commented that they all
work together well. In fact,
she said, Mrs. Pam Maddox
(also a secretary of the
firm), is considered now to
be family, too! According to
Mrs. Weaver, a person

as there is so much to learn.
“If he’ll just stay with it a
year, she said, “he’ll never
want to work in any other
business.”
A native of Lamar County,
Mrs. Weaver is a rose grower
of county-wide renown. She
works diligently with her
roses and is a firm believer in
fertilizing and spraying,
doing both on a regular basis.
She grows roses of many
varieties and has helped
many people get their own
start in “rose production.”
Asa busy lady, Mrs.
Weaver states that her main

Would it really help to have an in
strument to predict the storms of life?
When the barometer falls it’s too
late to build a sea wall or to dig a
cyclone cellar. Wise men prepare
when the wind is calm. A leaking roof
must be mended while the sun shines.
The Church does not claim to pro
vide a barometer of life. But it
preaches every Sunday the spiritual
readiness which climaxed Christ’s Ser
mon on the Mount:
“Whosoever heareth these sayings
of mine, and doeth them, I will liken
him unto a wise man which built his
house upon a rock:
“And the rain descended, and the
floods came, and the winds blew and
beat upon that house. . . .
“And it fell not: for it was founded
upon a rock.”
