from Georgia College on
Saturday, June 7, at the 84th
annual commencement
ceremony to be held by the
college since its founding in
1889.
Judge G. Conley Ingram of
the Georgia Supreme Court
will be the speaker at the 10
a.m. ceremony on the mall.

receiving degrees will be

fifty-fifth wedding anniver
sary on Thursday, May 29th.
Mr. and Mrs. James were
married by the Rev. E. C.
Wilson in the Jenkinsburg
Methodist Parsonage on May
29th, 1920. This was the first

James attended the Civil
Service Retirement Con
vention at Rock Eagle on
May 13 and 14. Mr. James
was recognized as having
paid his dues the longest
period of time (31 years).
Mrs. E. L. Pittman of West
Palm Beach, Florida arrived
last week to spend some time
at the Pittman home on
Route 2. She was accom
panied to Jackson by Mrs.
Ellen Liden, also of West
Palm Beach, who will be with
her during her stay in the
county.
Rev. H. H. McAfee and his
daughter, Mrs. J. B. Hard
wick, of Lakeland, Florida
arrived early last week to
spend the summer at their
cottage at Indian Springs
Camp Ground. They were
accompanied to Jackson by
Mr. Kenneth McAfee, who
will be with them.
Rev. and Mrs. Lon L.
Hadwin and family moved
last week to Columbus. They
will be missed by their many
Jackson friends.

The marriage of Miss
Shirley Ann Ussery to Mr.
Malcolm Carl Dahlin was
solemnized Saturday, May
17th, at Sacred Heart Church
in Griffin. Father Washing
ton performed the double
ring ceremony at one-thirty
o’clock.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn J.
Ussery of Griffin. The groom
is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Warren E. Dahlin of Jack
son.
Miss Judye Bunn, soloist,
and Mrs. Barbara Bunn,
organist, both of Griffin,
presented a program of
wedding music.
Mr. Mike Letson of
Jackson served as best man.
Ushers were Mr. Mike
Dahlin of Jackson, brother of
the groom; Mr. Mike
Patterson of Jenkinsburg,
brother-in-law of the groom,
and Mr. William Ussery of
Griffin, brother of the bride.
Mrs. Bar bars Summers of
Griffin was her sister’s
matron of honor. Brides
maids were Mrs. Cathy
Ussery of Griffin, sister-in
law of the bride; Mrs. Dot
Patterson of Jenkinsburg
and Miss Patricia Bunn of
Griffin.
The bride, given in
marriage by her father, wore
a wedding gown of organza
and Venice lace. The gown
was styled on empire lines
with Venice lace bodice and
full bishop sleeves with lace
trim. The attached chapel
train fell from the shoulders
and the entire gown was
encircled with Venice lace.
Her fingertip veil of bridal
illusion was attached to a full
cluster of white silk roses,
satin leaves and forget-me
nots. She carried a colonial
style bouquet of peppermint
carnations, white roses and
gypsophelia.
Following the wedding, a
reception was held at the
church.
Those serving were Mrs.
Linda Sue Owens and Mrs.
Brenda Wilson.
Mr. and Mrs. Dahlin will
reside in Griffin. The groom
is employed with Artisians
Body Shop.

McDonough and John T.
Fisher, also of McDonough,
were married recently at the
home of Rev. T. J. Thaxton.
The bride’s sister and
brother-in-law served as best
man and matron of honor.
