Rites For
Mrs. Johnson
At Flovilla
Mrs. Nellie Gardner John
son, 85, of Route 1, Flovilla,
died early Wednesday after
noon, May 21st, at the
Medical Center in Macon
after a lengthy illness.
She was born October 21,
1889 in Flovilla, the daughter
of the late Mr. Robert
Gardner and the late Mrs.
Kate Lewis Gardner of
Flovilla. She was a member
of the Second Baptist Church
of Jackson.
Funeral services were held
Thursday morning at 11
o’clock from the chapel of
Sherrell Funeral Home with
the Rev. A. L. Price and the
Rev. T. L. Moody officiating.
Burial was in the Flovilla
Cemetery with Sherrell
Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson is survived
by her husband,Curtis John
son of Flovilla; 11 nieces and
nephews; several great
nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were William
L. Jones, Virgil Smith,
Stanley Maddox, Hiram
Godsey, Marvin Walker,
Larry Smith.

Mr. Gibbs Lyons of Stam
ford, Connecticut, Mr. Leon
ard Lyons of Beverly
Hills, Calif., Mrs. Sylvia
Carmichael of Atlanta, and
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Brown
iow of Marietta. Later this
week David Faulkner of
Miami, Florida will be a
guest. Arriving the 10th of
June will be Mr. and Mrs.
Victor Carmichael who will
spend a week with Mrs.
Carmichael and other rela
tives.
Sunday guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Lawrence T. Cole were
Bill and Gena Cole and their
sons, Billy, Tommy, and
Ricky.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank
DeLamar have returned
from a trip to Coral
Springs, Florida where they
visited their son, Mr. and
Mrs. Dean DeLamar, and
Marty, Holly and Jeanne
DeLamar.
Mr. and Mrs. Coy Whidby
visited Mrs. Lois Byrd last
Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ball of
Atlanta visited Mr. and Mrs.
W. O. Ball last Thursday.
Mrs. Elena Carter spent
Sunday night with Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Williams and
family in order to attend the
kindergarten graduation of
Miss Susan Williams at the
the First Baptist Church of
Conyers.
Mr. and Mrs. William C.
(Bill) Francis of Ossining,
New York, visited their
uncles and aunts, Mr. and
Mrs. Otis Hammond, Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Hammond and
Mr. and Mrs. Wade Ham
mond, in Jackson last week,
returning to New York on
Saturday. Before coming to
Jackson Mr. and Mrs.
Francis were guests of her
sister, Mrs. Olga Hammond
Balk, Mr. Balk and family in
Augusta, Mrs. Balk bringing
her sister and husband to
Jackson and remaining for
an overnight visit with
relatives here.
Friends of Mrs. Lilia
McClendon, mother of Mrs.
J. Dawson Bryant, regret to
learn she fell and fractured
her hip Saturday morning.
Mrs. McClendon resides at
546 Covington Street with her
daughter and family and it
was there she suffered the
fall. Mrs. McClendon under
went surgery Monday at
Georgia Baptist Hospital for
replacement of the socket in
her hip.
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Parrish
spent several days ' in
Lawrenceville last week
visiting Mr. and Mrs. Dennis
Dunagan and boys. On
Wednesday evening they
attended Ted’s kindergarten
graduation.
