Jean Crawford and Herbert
Maurice Moody July 12th
Miss Jean Crawford and
Mr. Herbert Maurice Moody,
Jr. were wed July 12 at eight
o’clock in the evening in
Hawthorne Lane United
Methodist Church, Charlotte,
North Carolina with the
Reverend Jim Gilland of
ficiating in the double ring
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Orr
Crawford, Jr. of 1507 Wood
land Drive, Charlotte, N. C.
Mr. Moody’s parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert Maurice
Moody of 817 Stanfield Drive,
also of Charlotte.
The altar was decorated
with urns of mixed white
summer flowers and moun
tain ferns. The arched and
spiral candelabras with
burning white tapers were
entwined with smilax and
formed a beautiful back
ground. Tall hurricane lamps
with greenery and white
satin bows were placed at
intervals along the pews with
family pews being marked
by white satin bows and
greenery.
The bride, given in
marriage by her father, wore
a Priscilla of Boston wedding
gown of imported silk
organza, fashioned with high
neck and short sleeves. The
gown was enhanced with
Alencon lace appliques and
bridal seed pearls. The
empire bodice embroidered
with lace was enhanced with
an A-line skirt which fell into
a full Chapel train. Her
matching full length veil of
English net edged with
Alencon lace was worn over a
Gondola lace headpiece. She
carried a nosegay bouquet of
white roses, bridal starburst
pompoms, and baby’s breath
with a royal bouquet orchid
in the center. The orchid was
later lifted for the bride’s
going away corsage.
The bride’s sisters, Mrs.
Linton Thompson and Miss
Brenda Kay Crawford, serv
ed as matron and maid of
honor. Bridesmaids were
Mrs. Lewis Orr Crawford,
111, Miss Debbie Harkey,
Mrs. William G. Johnson,
Jr., Miss Gay Lieurance,
Miss Mary Moody, and Miss
Nancy Skidmore. Miss Leslie
Bean served as flower girl.
The attendants wore long
gowns of sheer print design
ed with ruffle sleeves and a
ruffle sleeve v-neck, empire
bodice encircled with green
satin ribbon. The semi full
skirt had a deep flounce.
They carried Colonial nose
gay bouquets of yellow garza
pompoms and baby’s breath.
Mr. Moody served as best
man for his son. Ushers were
Lewis Orr Crawford, 111,
brother of the bride; Richard
Moody, brother of the
groom; Paul Beazley, John
Hutton, Jeff Lyons, Jim
Richardson, and Jay Seay.
Mrs. Crawford chose for
her daughter’s wedding a
floor-length formal aqua
gown designed with long
sleeves and a V-neckline.
White and silver beading
enhanced the empire bodice
and the wrists. She wore a
white philanophsis orchid.
The groom’s mother wore
a long blue gown with a
Vienese lace bodice and
matching jacket. The chiffon
skirt flowed from the waist.
She wore a white philanoph
sis orchid.
A reception was given by
the bride’s parents at
Ramada Inn Coliseum, East
Independence Boulevard, fol
lowing the ceremony. The
bride’s book was kept by
Mrs. Jeff Lyons and Miss
Diane Rooks, cousin of the
bride. Scrolls and rice bags
in white wicker baskets were
handed out to the guests.
Handles of the baskets were
decorated with pink, green
and purple streamers.

each tier were formed with
white swans. The top of the
cake was decorated with a
nosegay of yellow sweetheart
roses and baby’s breath.

shades of yellow graced the
refreshment tables. The
beverage tables were dec
orated with greenery and
smaller arrangements of
summer flowers.
The bride attended Wake
Forest University for two
years before graduating Phi
Beta Kappa from the
University of North Carolina,
Chapel Hill, in 1972. She
attended graduate school at
the University of Georgia.
She is employed with First
Union National Bank in their
branch management train
ing program.
Mr. Moody is a graduate of
Wake Forest University,
1971, with a Bachelor of Arts
in Business Administration.
He was a member of Delta
Sigma Phi fraternity and was
a varsity swimmer for four
years. A former bank
executive, he is presently
with Southwestern Life In
surance Company as super
visor of specialized market

The bride-elect is the

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest H.
Garner of Buford, Georgia
and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Asma Forest Taylor of
Jackson, Georgia.
Dr. Bristow is the grandson
of Mrs. W. E. Griffith and the
late Mr. Griffith and the late
Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Bristow.
Miss Taylor attended
Richardson High School,
received her B.A. degree
from Baylor University and
her M.S. degree from
Southern Methodist Uni
versity. She was an honor
graduate in high school, a
member of Delta Alpha Pi,
Alpha Lambda Delta, and
Sigma Tau Delta at Baylor.
She is presently employed as
a mathematics teacher at
Dallas Indepedent School

The rehearsal party was
given by Mr. and Mrs.
Herbert Maurice Moody on
Friday evening at Ramada
Inn Coliseum.
