NOTICE OF SALE
Georgia, Butts County
On January 12,1971 Walter
McDowell executed a note
for $390.00, payable to the
Mclntosh State Bank. This
note was made payable on
demand by the Mclntosh
State Bank with interest
accruing from the date of the
execution of the note at 8
percent per annum on the
unpaid principal.
On June 23, 1971, Walter
McDowell executed a note
for $2,476.00, payable to the
Mclntosh State Bank. This
note was made payable on
demand by the Mclntosh
State Bank with interest
accruing from the date of the
execution of the note at 8
per cent per annum on the
unpaid principal.
On September 15, 1971,
Walter McDowell executed a
note for $200.00, payable to
the Mclntosh State Bank of
Jackson, Georgia. This note
was made payable on
demand by the Mclntosh
State Bank with interest
accruing from the date of the
execution of the note at 8 per
cent per annum on the unpaid
principal.
On September 31, 1971,
Walter McDowell executed a
note for SIOO.OO, payable to
Mclntosh State Bank at
Jackson, Georgia. This note
was made payable on
demand by the Mclntosh
State Bank with interest
accruing from the date of the
execution of the note at 8 per
cent per annum on the unpaid
principal.
All of the above mentioned
notes contained a provision
for the payment of 15 per cent
of the principal and interest
as attorneys’ fees, if collect
ed by the law or through an
attorney at law. In order to
secure the payment of said
note, Walter McDowell ex
ecuted and delivered on July
15, 1968 to Mclntosh State
Bank, a Georgia Banking
Corporation, with principal
offices in Jackson, Butts
County, Georgia a deed to
secure debt, conveying the
following descirbed land:
ALL that tract or parcel of
land lying and being in the
613th District G.M., Butts
County, Georgia containing
two (2) acres, more or less,
bound North by Levi Barnes
and Vaughn Lbr. Cos., East by
Earner & Eugene Barkley;
South and West is Dirt Road
leading from Levi Barnes to
Highway No. 36, and shown
by plat of H. W. McElheney,
County Surveyor, recorded
simultaneously with War
ranty Deed to Earner &
Eugene Barkley to Walter
McDowell, dated 7-13-68.
Said Deed is recorded in
Deed Book 38, Pages 385-387,
Clerk’s Office, Butts
Superior Court,
Mclntosh State Bank has
demanded payment on all of
the above described notes.
Walter McDowell has failed
to pay the above described
notes and has defaulted on all
of the above described notes.
All of the above described
notes have fully matured and
are now in default. Notice
fixing liability for attorney’s
fee has been given according
to law. There is a balance due
as of June 30.1975 of $2,755.44
principal and $559.96
interest, and attorney’s fees.
The said Deed contains a
power of sale, authorizing
Mclntosh State Bank, a
Georgia Banking Corpora
tion, with principal offices in
Jackson, Butts County, Geor
gia as attorney-in-fact for
Walter McDowell to sell the
property conveyed thereby in
order to satisfy the above
described notes as they are
subsequent advances se
cured by the above described
security deed, after adver
tising same once a week for
four (4) weeks in the official
gazette of said county, and in
accordance with said power
of sale and by virtue thereof
the Mclntosh State Bank, a
Georgia Banking Corpora
tion, with principal offices in
Jackson, Butts County, Geor
gia will sell the property
above described at public
outcry to the highest and best
bidder for cash, on the first
Tuesday in September, 1975,
at the place of public sales
before the courthouse door in
Butts County, Georgia and
within the legal hours of sale.
The proceeds of the sale
will be used as follows:
(1) To pay the expenses of
said sale;
(2) To pay the above
described notes secured by
the said deed; and
(3) The balance to Walter
McDowell.

time set for receiving bid
proposals terminates at 11:00

Acceptance of an offer

tainage as prescribed by the

escrow accounts at the option
of the Contractor. Final
payment of amounts with
held or deposited in escrow
will not be made until the
State Highway Engineer has
certified that the work has
been satisfactorily com
pleted and accepted.
Projects financed with
Federal funds will contain
provisions with regard to
minimum wages, employ
ment of labor, methods of
construction, and subletting
or assigning the contract. On
such projects, the Depart
ment hereby notifies all
bidders that it will affirma
tively insure that, in any
contract entered into pur
suant to this advertisement,
minority business enter
prises will be afforded full
opportunity to submit bids in
response to this invitation
and will not be discriminated
against on the grounds of
race, color, or national origin
in consideration for an
award.
Any Federally financed
work located within the
counties of Fulton, DeKalb,
Cobb, Clayton, and Gwinnett,
the estimated cost of which
exceeds $500,000.00 will be
subject to the requirements
of the Atlanta Plan. Require
ments of the Atlanta Plan
will be included in the
contract special provisions
where applicable. Copies of
the Atlanta Plan are avail
able from the same source as
plans and proposals.
This advertisement is
merely an invitation for the
submission of bids which are
to be considered as offers for
performance of work by the
submitting party. The State

State Plan, Title XX, SS Has 150th Anniversary
A public hearing on the
proposed Title XX State Plan
for Social Services in
Georgia has been scheduled
from 1 until 4 p.m., on
Thursday, July 31, at the
Butts County Department of
Family and Children Ser
vices. The proposed plan,
which is available for
citizen review at the Butts
County Department of
Family and Children Ser
vices, includes services to
abused and neglected chil
dren, the mentally retarded,
transportation and “meals,
on wheels” to the elderly,
and family planning.
Those eligible for services
are individuals or families

Wins Many
State Honors
The Jackson Chapter of
Future Farmers of America
received many honors at the
annual State FFA Conven
tion recently. The state
convention was held at the
State FFA-FHA Camp lo
cated near Covington. More
than 440 delegates and
advisors from Georgia
attended the convention. The
delegates represented FFA
chapters located in Georgia’s
159 counties.
The state award in the
Roadside Beautification Con
test was presented to the
Jackson FFA chapter. The

a gross income of less than
$7,800 annually.
The Department of Human
Resources is administering
the $57 million in federal
funds for these social
services and is in charge of
developing a plan for the
most effective use of those
funds to help Georgia
citizens. The final state plan
will go into effect October 1.

Atlanta Journal. By winning
the state award, the Jackson
High beautification applica
tion is now eligible for
competition in the Southern
Regional Contest.
Michael Mixon, son of Mr.
and Mrs. James Mixon, was
the state winner of the Home
Improvement Proficiency
Award. Michael received an
all expense-paid trip to the
National FFA Convention
which will be held in Kansas
City, Missouri, next Novem
ber. Also, Michael’s home
improvement application
will be eligible for additional
awards in the Southern
Region Contest.
Toney Duke, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Franklin Duke, re
ceived recognition for keep-
ing the most accurate and
complete treasurer’s book in
the state. The state award of
an expense-paid trip to the
National Convention in
Kansas City next November
was presented to Toney.
The FFA quartet of
Jackson placed third in the
state finals of quartet
competition. The quartet
Towaliga Baptist Church
celebrated its 150th anniver
sary Sunday, July 27th, 1975.
The worship service was
conducted by a former
pastor, Rev. W. T. Booth.
There was a note burning
ceremony signifying full
payment of the Educational
Building.
Four former pastors were
present and some members
of their families. These
former pastors were: Rev.
W. T. Booth, Rev. Charles
Clark, Rev. Gerald Kersey,
and Rev. Bill Thomas. Each
former pastor was given a
few moments for remarks. A
letter was read from a
former pastor, Rev. Allen
members were Tommy
Eidson, Billy Davis, William
Henry, and Mike Gray. The
quartet represented the first
time in Jackson FFA history
that a local team has
competed in state competi
tion and finished as a top
team.
William Yancey, Wesley
Baker, and Leon Johnson
served as official delegates
to the state convention. They
served as voting members of
the convention body during
the business sessions.
Richard Ledford, FFA ad
visor of Jackson High, was
selected to serve as one of the
three judges of the state
parliamentary procedure
contest.
The Jackson FFA Chapter
received more awards at the
state convention than any
other chapter in the state of
Georgia. This was accom
plished by the hard work of
all the members of the local
FFA chapter working to
gether.

with 150 on top of it was
baked and presented to the
church by Mrs. Walter
Henry. After cutting of the
cake and singing “God Be
with You Till We Meet
Again,” all went home
saying, “It was good to be in
the House of the Lord.”
