Jaycees Name
Phillips As
Senator
The Butts County Jaycees
are happy to announce they
have a State Senator to
represent Butts County in the
Georgia Legislature. He is
Wayne Phillips, an 11 year
veteran Jaycee with many
excellent qualifications.
Wayne will attend the
legislature under a project
started this year by the
Georgia Jaycees with the
blessings of Gov. George
Busbee. The project is called
a “Mock Legislature” and
will consist of 40 senators and
80 representatives elected by
the Georgia Jaycees.
, These young men will be
going to the Capitol in
November to conduct busi
ness in the same manner as
their senior counterparts.
They will pass bills and will
have an opportunity to
express the fellings of
Jaycees on many legislative
matters. Every elected sen
ator and representative will
be given a copy of the bills
passed by the mock legisla
ture.
Donald W. Thaxton, pres
ident of the Butts County
Jaycees, states that since the
Jaycees are a club of
community service they will
be happy to listen to opinions
on any particular subject
from interested citizens. If
these are given, Mr. Phillips
can better express com
munity feelings on legisla
tion. Mr. Thaxton states that
anyone desiring Mr. Phillips
to introduce a bill can put it
in written form and mail to
Butts County Jaycees, P.O.
Box 3875, Jackson, Ga. 30233.

Tips On Storing
Meat And Poultry
As soon as you get the meat home, take off
the store wrapping and rewrap it loosely in
wax paper so that air can get to it.
Sometimes it’s more convenient to put it
in an open dish and cover it loosely with
waxed paper. Put in refrigerator.
If you're freezing the meat, however, it
should he wrapped airtight.
If possible, take the meat out of the
refrigerator before cooking and let it stand
until it is at room temperature. About an
hour for small cuts, two or even more for
large cuts.
