National Senior Citizens
Honor Congressman Flynt
The National Alliance of
Senior Citizens today an
nounced the induction of
Congressman John J. Flynt,
Jr. into the Golden Age Hall
of Fame.
In making the presentation
of the highest public service
award given by the organiza
tion, Mrs. Virginia Aubrey,
Alliance president said, “The
single most pervasive prob
lem facing our senior
Americans is that the fixed
income is being destroyed by
chronic inflation. Congress
man Flynt has consistently
supported government fiscal
responsibility to limit today’s
out of hand deficit spending,
and thereby to halt the huge
rise in the cost of living.
“Mr. Flynt was rated as a
‘Guardian of the Aged’ by the
Alliance on its first annual
Golden Age Index, demon
strating a strong voting
record for the best interests
of the senior community,”
continued Mrs. Aubrey.

ALUMINUM COLLECTORS Russell Cook and his
father “Woppy” hand some of their aluminum over to
Reynolds employee Mike Brinkley. Russell had a total of
eighty pounds of cans and forty-two pounds of scrap, which
earned him $16.20. The most aluminum sold by one person for
the day was 145 lb. by Doyle Johnson, for $21.75. Mrs. T. A.
Carmichael turned in 81 pounds of cans for $12.15. The total
haul for the day was 645 pounds, and the total paid out was
$94.65, which was much better for the first day, according to
Mike, than areas of much larger population. Reynolds big
red, white and blue van will be in Flovilla again on May 26
from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
