coming marriage of their
daughter, Cindy Jean, to Mr.
Stanley H. Vaughn, son of
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Vaughn of
Jackson.
The bride-elect is the
granddaughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Fincher
and the late Mr. and Mrs. A.
G. Spencer, both of Jackson.
Miss Fincher is a graduate
of Jackson High School and is

The new home of Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Young was the
place for their grandson’s
party. Refreshments of
homemade cake and ice
cream were served after
Jason demolished his very
own cake. The honoree
received many nice gifts.

with Mr. and Mrs. J. R.

their home following the
Kiwanis Club meeting were

McFarland. Mr. Carmichael
is also a member of the

a period of confinement at

Col. Alton Coleman, Mrs.
Coleman and children, Alton
111, Cindy and Sharon, spent
the week of August 9-14 with
Mrs. Alton Coleman and
together they went to St.
Simons for several days with
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Coleman
and family.
Mrs. W. M. Johnston and
children, Marshall and Gage,
of Marietta, were spend the
day guests of Mrs. Hugh
Mallet on Wednesday of last
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton
Mangham and Bonnie Ki
nard accompanied Virgia
Mangham to Valdosta State
College August 2 and 3 for
registration and orientation.
They all then motored to
Titusville, Fla. for a visit
with Asa Mangham, who
returned home last weekend
after doing Summer Missions
work at Park Avenue Baptist
Church. They toured Ken
nedy Space Center among
other attractions. They also
enjoyed Daytona Beach on
the way down and back,
returning home Sunday
afternoon, August 8.
Masters Dexter and Der
rick Thomas, sons of Mr. and
Mrs. Willie A. Thomas of
Cleveland, Ohio returned
home Sunday via United Air
Lines after spending several
weeks with their grand
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
A. Head, and Mrs. Emma Jo
Foster and other relatives.
The Vikings believed that the
first woman was made from
an alder tree. That’s really
packing a trunk!

(for 2-crust pie)
3 tablespoons Bourbon
Water

The long political campaign is about to come to an
end and probably you voters are almost as tired as we
who have sought your support.
I do Want to take this opportunity to thank all of
you who have worked untiringly in my behalf and who
were responsible for the tremendous vote of confidence
given me on August 10th.
For those of you who voted for any of my worthy
opponents, I solicit your vote and support in the
August 31st Primary Run-Off.

Filling
1/2 pound ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1 medium potato, diced
1 medium carrot, diced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons Bourbon
Prepare pie crust mix ac
cording to package directions,
substituting 3 tablespoons
Bourbon for 3 tablespoons
water. Combine filling ingre
dients and mix well. Divide
pastry dough into 8 portions.
Roll out each portion into a
5-inch round. Place about 1/4
cup of filling mixture in the
center of each round. Mois
ten edges with cold water.
Fold dough over filling. Press
edges together firmly with
fork. Place on greased baking
sheets, cut 2 slits in the top
of each pastry. Bake in pre
heated 400°F. oven 15 min
utes. Reduce heat to 350°F.
Bake 30 minutes longer.
Makes 8.
Glasses or babies' bottles that
have held milk should first
be rinsed in cold water be
fore washing. Hot water will
cause milk to stick to the
glass.
