his ministry in 1963 by
organizing the Rocky Creek
Church of the Nazarene,
Castalian Springs, Tenn. He
later accepted the pastorate
in Doyle, Tenn., where he
pastured until entering the
held of full-time evangelism.

To Head Music
For Nazarenes
Rev. E Ray Savage,
pastor of the Jackson Church
of the Nazarene. has announ
ced that the church has
employed Rev. Ken Partain
to serve as the Church's
Minister of Music. He will
begin his duties at the church
on March 6th and will be
responsible for developing
and directing the Church's
entire music program.
Mr. Partain is a native of
Texas and is a graduate of
Wesley College in Jackson.
Mississippi. He has served
churches in Crockett. Texas,
and Jackson, Mississippi.
Mrs. Partain is the former
Sandra Elliott, daughter of
Mr and Mrs. Sanford Elliott
ol Flovilla. She attended
Wesley College in Jackson,
piano The Partains have two
i ildren. Philip Wayne and
Mary Catherine. They reside
n: the Iron Springs con -
munity.
Fire Destroys
Acreage at Stark
According to Butts County
Sheriff Billy Leverette. a fire
destroyed several acres of
lores’ in the Stark com
mutttty Saturday. February
Leverette said the Flovilla

forestry department answer

was done.
Though the fire got close to
some homes, none was
damaged according to

and his wife Joan of Mt. Erie, Illinois will be conducting
revival services at the Jackson Church of the Nazarene
March 8-13 The public is invited to attend the services
which begin each evening at 7:30 and 11:00 a.m. and 6:00
p.m. on Sunday. March 13.

Zucchini Squash is usually
plentiful in almost every
season. and reasonably
priced. Here is a recipe for
fried zucchini which has
extra seasonings. These
squash are crisp and very
good .
FRIKD ZUCCHINI SQUASH
1 egg
1 cup half and half
1 cup all purpose flour
one third cup whole wheat
flour
one third cup corn meal
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon garlic powder
l teaspoon lemon pepper
_ teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon salt
teaspoon paprika
1-2 pounds medium sized
zucchini
Whip egg and half and half
together. Mix all dry
ingredients together. Wash
and dry zucchini. Cut
lengthwise into halves and
cut each half into long strips
; inch wide Let squash soak
in egg mixture. Coat slices
with breading. Deep fry in
hot vegetable oil until brown
and crisp. Drain on paper
towels and serve immediate
ly This dish can also be
served as an appetizer.

day that the natural gas
shortage has eased to the
extent that the City's
churches and recreational
programs will be in full
operation this week.
The Mayor did caution all
gas users, however, to
continue their conservation
practices.

Cystic Fibrosis
Bike-A-Thon
Be Held April 2
Get out those bicycles
boys, girls, men and women.
Let's ride for the research
and cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis is an inherit
ed disease that damages the
lunes and digestive svstem.
It is a thick mucous that
clogs the openings to the
lungs and digestive system.
The average life span for a
Cystic Fibrosis child is 18 to
19 years of age.
Shane McCord. 9 month old
son of William and Lether
McCord, has Cystic Fibrosis.
He will ride in the bike-a-thon
■ weather permitting) with
his father. The ride will begin
at the courthouse square, go
to the WJGA Radio Station
and back to the square
beginning at 10:00 A.M. The
riders may ride the route as
many times as they like. The
bike route is approximately
two miles.
There is a first place prize
for the rider who collects the
largest amount of money.
There will be 10 to 15 other
prizes to be given away, and
a prize for the youngest 4th
grade boy and girl who
participates in the ride

High may sign up on
