of genuine sorrow' to his Wide circle of

unprepared for the.suiWjjnucss of his
demise. He^was sitting Con the front
veranda of bis ho#ie ciwversing with
a friend, whin Without a moment’s
indication tl^t »hqre wps anything
unusual the matter witir him, his head
dropped to one sideaAd ho was dead.
It is supposed to have been a sudden
attack of heart disease.'
His remains were interred at Ebe
nezer church, in I‘andolpli county.
Mr. Stanley moved from Randolph
county ho this county a number of
years ago. In Randolph he had been
prominent in all public affairs, and was

o Tot Canses Night Alarm.
“One night my brother’s baby was
taken with Croup,” writes Mrs. .1. C.
Kinder, of Crittenden, Ky., “it seemed
it would strangle b< fore we could get a
doctor, so wc gave it Dr. King’s New
Discovery, which gave quick relief and
permanently cured it. We always
keep it in the house to protect our
children from Croup and Whooping
Cough. It cured me of a chronic
bronchial trouble that no other remedy
would relieve.” Infallible for Coughs,

When it conies down to solid fun
and enjoyment, and ihat in wholesale
quantities, commend us the little folks.
Ohl folks never wantto return to child
hood’s happy hour sc much as when
seeing the young folks in the enjoy
ment of innocent fun and frolic.
Such was the state of feeling of those
who prepared and carried out the an
nual Easter egg hunt last Monday
afternoon. Almost every child in
town was present, and above four
hundred eggs were hidden. If you were
not there, imagination will give you
the picture of the crowd when turned
loose by the managers.
Miss Eppie Peterson was tho most
successful, finding eighteen eggs.
All unite in returning thanks to the
promoters and managers for a most
enjoyable afternoon.

Eggter Services at 81. E, Church.
As- announced previously special
Easters services were held at the Meth
odist church last Sunday morning.
Tho day, as far as the weather wa
concerned, was an ideal one—bright,
balmy and spring-like, and a great
many took advantage of it to attend
religiOUs service.
While the church was not profusely
decorated the palms and cut flowers
were plentiful, and tastefully arranged,
giving a beautiful effect.
The songs for the occasion consisted
of quartettes by the choir, and solos
by Mrs. Dr. Speck and Mrs. Ruby
Manry, and many were the expressions
of delighted appreciation.
While the pastor, Rev. D. D. Rate
man, had just recovered from a severe
spell of sickness, and was physically
weak, his sermon on the Resurrection
was freely commented on as being one
of the best ever heard by the people of
our town.
Altogether we congratulate on Meth
odist brethern on the successful issue
of the Easter of 1902.
Again, after an absence of ireveral
weeks, I am representing my same
laundry, The Columbus Steam Laun
dry, winch turns out tho finest work

There was a young lady in Fort Gaines
town,
Iler name wasn’t Tones, nor was it
Brown,
Or any name that you’d likely guess.
But to get to the point—she wanted a
dress.
She went up one street, down another
came; ,•
She got so worried she scarce knew
her name,
’Til into a store on Hancock street
She went and sat down to rest htr
feet.
She rested a moment and asked to be
. >■ shown
Tho latest in goods to make a spring
gown.
She found what she wanted and turn
ed to the street,
And with a slight smile entrancingly
sweet
She said to the salesman, “How cheap
your goods are.
If I’d only known it I’d not walked so
far,
But came hero nt first and saved all
my trouble,
And not have had some goods priced
me at double
The prices you ask for your lovely
line.
I’ll certainly khoW where to go next
time.”
l3r*“A hint to the wise is suffi
cient.” Its needless to say trial the
store referred tp was that of
Morrts, Son A Co.
The question has long been aggitat
ed as to whether or not Fort Gaines
needs a new school building, where
it should Imlocated, and how to raise
money sufficient to build it.
The questions are subjects of daily
discussion among our citizens in their
places of business and on the streets,
and no definite conclusions have been
reached.
Ho let every man, woman and child
of Fort Gaines meet at Coleman Hall
to-night for tho purpose of forming
some definite plans to start this very
important movement. Every one.
young and old, is urgently requested
to come out. If ever there was a time
when our town should come together
it is now.
But her beauty was completely hid
den by sores, blotches and pimples til
she used Bucklen’s Arnica Salve.
Then they vanished as will all Erupt
ions, Fever Sores, Boils, Ulcers, Car
buncles and Felons from its use. In
fallible for Cuts, Corns, Burns, Scalds
and Piles. Cure guaranteed. 25c at

satisfactory pills 1 ever took. Never
